I REALLY like my best guy friend. I think I might even be in love with him. Once in a while I think he might like me back. He treats me differently (but in a good way) than all my other friends, but has been a little bit more shy than usual around me. Also, a while ago he asked my best friend if I liked him. She told him that she didn't know (which is far from the truth, I talk about him WAY too much), but I don't know if he asked because he likes me in return...or if I'm giving hints too heavily.
But I'm thinking of having him over New Years morning for this brunch that my family is having and I want to tell him I like face to face (but privately of course.)
Of course, I don't know if he will like me in return, but if he does reject me...what should I say and how should I resist myself from crying?

The definition of like is very broad. Of course you like each other if you are friends.

What happens if you move to a more romantic situation, will both of you be able to move back to being friends if does not work out?

If you let it be for now, will it grow into a lasting love in a few years? Or will you lose interest in each other?

A lot depends on your ages now. I do not think that anyone can give you an answer to an unknown future.
