I appreciate all answers, unfortunately I have to rely on low income clinics & if you're not dying, you're basically not sick..I was told massage also & have tried the hot & cold stuff..I guess I'll try massage next.. Thanks, keep the answers coming & Happy New Year to all of you.

I sympathize. I have neck problems too. As the first writer suggested, you could have a disc problem or arthritic condition. Have you seen a doctor? If heat, massage and/or physical therapy doesn't help, then I'd surely have it checked to find out the cause and possibly the cure.

Sometimes a nice hot towel around your neck (not completely) where the pinch is, will help alleviate that. Your best bet is to get it massaged by trained hands. Alot of people experience this pain, and alleviate it with a good neck massage. After your massage, and before bed, take a nice hot bath using an epsom salt in your water. Also, consider a hot chamomile tea before bed to insure a peaceful nights rest.

I used to date a guy that had this problem. he finally went to the dr. and they found something wrong with one of the discs in his neck--he had to have surgery--you might want to have it checked out. Alternate ice and heat---ice will reduce the inflamation and heat increases it.
