Hi Kreg,
I think the wording of your question is throwing people off.
I believe we are living in the last days, when men want to only satisfy there own selfish desires. Even our so called Christian politicians cant be trusted from one day to the next. They change there politics according to the polls instead of standing on God's word.
But when all is said and done I do believe God is in control, and he is coming for his church very soon.
Jesus is Lord

Well, I look at the teachings of Christ and realize something. Some of the things going on in today's world are clearly against Scripture, but I also know what God shares to me. Our country is not a theocracy, and I don't believe that God wants obedience to scriptures mandated by the laws. He wants people to obey him out of their heart's desires.
Let's take the situation of abortion and say that abortion is now illegal...do you honestly believe it would stop abortions from happening? No it would stop SOME abortions, but it would create more problems than it would resolve. First of all, what would you do to a woman determined to have an abortion, how would you prevent her from having one, especially if she had a reason to feel it would be dangerous to bring a child into this world? If you believe that banning abortions would make our country better, then go and visit Peru and most Latin American countries. There are children in Peru that get abandoned on the streets as young as 2 years old and they have a lot of children in orphanages, and not enough room for all the kids that need a place to stay. You may think that there are scores of people waiting to adopt these children...but if that was the case, no child under age 18 would ever sit in an orphanage or a group home. People want to adopt the cute babies, but not the children who the mom's take home and then cannot raise later on...
So, I truly believe that as a Christian, it is more scriptural to look at the situations and determine the most compassionate response.

I'm Christian/Mormon.
So, abortion. Do you honestly think that making it illegal would stop some girls from getting abortions? Think again. Some kind of drugs are illegal too, but people smoke them anyways. Speeding is illegal, but people do it anyways. Bottom line is, people who are determined will do what they want to do regardless of the law. So Abortion HAS to be legal. If it was illegal, than girls would try to force themselves to abort (remember the good old hanger days?) and could end up seriously injuring themselves or the fetus. They might not succeed in killing the fetus and instead cause it so much damage that it would be born very much deformed. Also have you ever heard of back alleys? Girls would go there too, and that is MUCH more dangerous than how they perform abortions now. Girls can DIE from it, or from poking themselves with the hanger the wrong way so they bleed to death. So we're better off keeping it legal seeing as illegalizing it would just create more problems than it stops. Abortion has been around a looooong time; there are actually Egyptian hieroglyphics depicting a woman aborting her baby. I don't agree with abortion and I know I would never ever get one, but I think the option should be available because illegalizing it would be stupid and abortion is the best choice in some circumstances.
As for homosexuality, I think Christ's message of love and acceptance is much more important than the verses saying being gay is a bad thing. My motto is live and let live... so I have absolutely nothing against gays. If God loves everyone, he loves gay people too... so why should I make them feel bad for their lifestyle? If God loves them, that's good enough for me-- I can accept them too. Who am I to judge?

If you are talking in the US people overwhelmingly don't vote. Furthermore, you would have to debate whether the US is a Christian nation. It may aspire to Christian beliefs, but practice sadly is far from the truth. I can say the same about my country Australia.

A single vote is not complex enough to express all of a person's feelings - sometimes we have to take the lesser evil with the greater good. So sometimes we have to vote for people who don't support us on all of our favourite issues... but do support us on many important ones.
As a Christian, you ought to understand the idea of 'greater good' better than anyone; it's your prime defense against most criticisms of your religion. Are you familiar with the phrase "God moves in mysterious ways?"

Some people are just tied to a political party, or get too fanatical about a particular candidate IMO. More likely I think that most Christians don't take the time to consider the religious aspect of what they're voting for. If they did, I think things would be a lot different right now.

Without the Wall of Separation Between Church and State Christianity would be confined to the Anglican church.
ALL of the independent thought from Pilgrims to Branch Davidians is directly connected to Jeffersonian government.
Did you notice that Marxist economies like China and Vietnam are moving towards capitalism while America is moving towards Marxism?
Did you notice that theocracies like Afghanistan and Iran are moving towards non-sectarian government while American is moving towards theocracy?
It all comes together when we get faith-based levee repair. How's that "praying the bridge won't collapse" working for you?

What makes you think a Christian votes against the Bible when they are in the voting booth. That would be between them and God.

I try to keep church and politics separate. What is good for me, is maybe not so good for someone else. Who am I to judge? All of that will be taken care of when we pass....or perhaps it won't....we just don't know. So, as a spiritually aware person, I will keep my beliefs to myself...which I know many won't agree with, but that is how I feel. I will not vote for someone who wears their religion like a badge and welds it like a sword. That sword has hurt many many people. I'm not so sure that God would be happy with how that "sword" has been used.

When did Christ vote OR seek to change the laws of man?
At what point in the history of man was mankind capable of upholding God's righteous laws...This is the reason Christ came to the world not to enforce the law but to free us from the penalty of law.
If you re Christian why would you attempt to put others under law that no man could live up to.
The good news the gospel is that man can be made free through the atonement of Jesus Christ and by faith made new and in agreement with God's righteousness.
When did the law save any man?
If any man is made perfect by the law please explain why Jesus came?
