How is that reconciled with Christ's words?
St. Luke 20:34 And Jesus said to them: The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: 35 But they that shall be accounted worthy of that world, and of the resurrection from the dead, shall neither be married, nor take wives.

Thank you to all the Mormon's who sincerely shared their beliefs and reasons. I now have a deeper appreciation for your faith even if I do not share it.

Those verses refer to those who have marriages "worthy of that world". That means they are not sealed for eternity with the proper authority. Those who are sealed with the proper authority have the potential (it's not automatic) to remain married in the eternities.
I am fully capable of admitting that I may be wrong but I do believe I am right. I don't see any harm in believing I will be married to my husband for ever. :)
EDIT: I do NOT believe I will be eternally pregnant. That is an opinion and is not doctrine. Even if it were true, the discomfort of pregnancy was a punishment for Eve's partaking of the fruit in the garden. Therefore, if we hypothetically were to get pregnant in heaven, it would not be the same as it is on earth. But like I said, I don't believe that opinion.

It also says they have spirit bodies that flesh and blood bodies cannot inherit the heavens. This is a physical body but that body is by spirit.
Can a cloud of light or a spirit body have the flesh and blood things it requires to have sex>?
If the spirit sons were able to do that then why did they forsake their possitions in heaven to come to the earth to live with women? Genesis 6: tells all about it and Jude 6.
The spirit sons of God had to clothe themselves in human bodies to be able to have sex with women. They went after fornication excessively. The bible says, and for that God condemed them.
All the things we want are with this earth someone to love and hold. Revelation 5:10 says that those who go to heaven are kings and priests and rule over the earth.
The Hebrew scriptures tells about a paradise earth where they will marry and have a life long companion.
Isaiah was a great prophet and he spoke of all these things we enjoy as humans. This earth is a beautiful place to live from the animals we love to the oceans and mountains.
Isaiah spoke of a time when the things we don't like will be gone. Starting in Isaiah 2:2 It must occurr in the final part of the days. Isa 2:4 And they will have to beat their swords into plow shares and their spears into prunning shears.
Nation will not lift up sword against nation. Neither will they learn war anymore.
Isa 33:17 a king will rule, which is Jesus Christ the messiah.
Who was fortold to come.
Isa 33: 24 no resident will say I am sick. Do we see that today? No that was all the promises God told Isaiah to tell us about. Isaiah 34:16 each one will have a mate. we were made to be in couples. To be companions forever.
So what they are wanting is true only it is on the earth, when all wickedness is gone.
Isaiah 35: says the desert will blossom like the rose. and verse 5 says the eyes of the blind ones will be opened and the deaf will hear, the cripple will walk. there will be plenty of water in a waterless region.
Isaiah 65:21 says we will build houses and have occupancy and plant vineyards and eat their fruitage. No one will have to build for someone else. that was very futureistic in a society with slaves. In fact the rich didn't care for his preaching and killed him for it. But today we can see where we could build our own house and grow our own food.
Even the animals will be peaceful with us and each other.
Isaiah 65:25 The wolf and the lamb will feed as one and the lion will eat straw like the bull. and as for the serpent his food will be dust. They will do no harm nor cause any ruin.
What a beautiful place to live and what a wonderful hope.
I love reading Isaiah because it holds out a hope for the futrue we can understand and want.
Not as some floating spirit but a real body. Must not be so bad to be human the spirit sons wanted to be humans.

Yes, the scriptures in part call into question marriage in heaven. Looking at the Saviors conversation with the Saducees, he was responding to people that did not even believe in heaven. We believe that in context with other scripture and confirmed by modern revelation a marriage under the sealing powers of the apostles can be eternal. Here are some of the Bible verses that point out that marriage in the Lord does not end.
Ecclesastics 3:14 I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.
1 Corinthians 11:11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

Take the questions and answer given in context:
"20:27 Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him, 20:28 Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
20:29 There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.
20:30 And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.
20:31 And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.
20:32 Last of all the woman died also.
20:33 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.
20:34 And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: 20:35 But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: 20:36 Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. "
Christ was simply stating that there will be no more marriages performed as they are here on earth; nor will there be any arranged marriages as in "given in marriage"...
He was really addressing the question of resurrection....
The skeptics wanted to ask a question like musical chairs....Christ simply responded it doesn't work like that...
"If I have told you earthly things, and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you of heavenly things?" (John 3:12)
disclaimer: although I'm not a Mormon, I do not subscribe to the theory there will be androgynous beings only....

The bond of marriage continues, people won't have weddings in heaven. The single ones that we refer to that are not forgotten about will most likely find partners in the millenium(don't quote me,that's just a theory)
Once we are in heaven, those who are sealed will remain sealed, those who are not, will no have an eternal spouse. But hopefully, they will be sealed to their parents and children. ^_^

Yes, we believe that marriage can last for time and all eternity, if it is performed in the temple by those with the right priesthood authority.

From what I remember, yes they believe you can be married in heaven and have spirit children. If you are married in the temple it is considered an eternal marriage, and you'll be together in heaven. They also believe when you go to heaven you'll live there with your family, since families have an eternal bond.

Jesus said we wouldn't be married or have marriages in heaven.
I've been telling my husband for 24 years appreciate me now...it won't last forever (marriage). lol !
Matthew 22 25Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother: 26Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. 27And last of all the woman died also. 28Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. 29Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. 30For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
Edit: if we are to be as angels and they are gender free…why would we need marriages? Furthermore...Jesus is the bridegroom and we as the church are the bride...this is a spiritual bond/marriage what other marriage would we need?
If Jesus was stating angles don’t marry, I have to believe we will not marry either.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:28)

They believe that once married that if you have this marriage sealed in the temple that you will be forever sealed together in matrimony. Your husband will be sealed to you in the afterlife. but then, they also believe that for a woman to worship God, She must go thru her husband. I was raised in the mormon religion, however I do not believe in their ways. I believe in God, and Jesus, but My beleifs fall more closely to the Native American ways of life, Naturally throu the Great Spirit and all things as one. for the good of the whole. Unity.
