Jesus Christ was accused of being a drunkard, a glutton, a Sabbath breaker, a false witness, a blasphemer of God, and a messenger of Satan. He was also accused of being subversive.—Matthew 9:34; 11:19; 12:24; 26:65; John 8:13; 9:16; 19:12.
After Jesus’ death and resurrection, his disciples were likewise the target of serious accusations. One group of first-century Christians were dragged to the city rulers by people crying out: ‘These men have overturned the inhabited earth.’ (Acts 17:6) On another occasion the apostle Paul and his companion Silas were taken to the authorities and charged with greatly disturbing the city of Philippi.

Barto,
Mormons rely on their Book of Mormon more than the Bible. Universally they are looked upon as Christians no matter what they may say. They push the teaching of the Mormon church. Meet with them for awhile and the Bible takes a back seat to their Book. You know this, get real.

Yes I would. These accusers were mostly the right hand men of the Romans. These temple priests were paid by the Romans and basically were paid to make it hard for any Jew they thought might be a problem to the Roman Empire. I think that the people who knew what was going on would know not to listen to these accusations.

Judging by the comments and questions on R&S, very few would have. It would have taken work and courage and faith. Three things in short supply around here.
Oh there is a "form" of devotion just like Roman times with all those idols, but never sticking their necks out of the sand.

Persecution doesn't equate to being right.
Us Mormons are just as persecuted if not more than the Jehovah's Witnesses. It doesn't mean we have "The True Gospel".
_____
I didn't come into this question trying to say that I'm right or that my church is correct. No sir, YOU made that argument for the Jehovah's Witnesses by saying "because we are persecuted we must be correct because the early Christians were persecuted".
The Branch-Davidians were persectued too. So where the Moonies. Are they right also?
I simply likened this to Mormonism to show you that persecution doesn't equate to correctness.
You're argument reaks of logical spoil. Try again my friend.

I don't understand what your question has to do with Jehovah's Witnesses. Are you trying to compare Jehovah's Witnesses to the early church? If you are, there are some significant differences that show the reality of the Christian Church and the blasphemy of the Jehovah's Witnesses. There are too many to go into but I would be happy to list a link to a web site that discusses this question if any are interested.

True worshippers have never been in the majority or well liked. They have always been persacuted.
So it isn't strange when Christians today are persacuted, it comes with the territory.

I would never follow Jesus. I don't agree with all of his ideas (pretending for a moment that he existed).
