Or could this be another outrageous claim from the Watchtower leaders?

These flashes of prophetic light prepared the ground for the historic discourse on "The Great Multitude, " given May, 1935, by the president of the Watch Tower Society, J.F. Rutherford, at the Washington, D.C., convention of Jehovah's Witnesses. What a revelation of divine truth that was! ( The Watchtower, 3/1/85, p. 14 )

" ...the heavenly hope was held out, highlighted and stressed until about the year 1935. Then as "light flashed up" to reveal clearly the identity of the " great crowd" of Revelation 7:9, the emphasis began to be placed on the earthly hope" ( The Watchtower, 2/1/82, p.28 )

It is interesting to note that the number of 'anointed' Jehovah's Witnesses who were part of the 144,000 (with a heavenly hope) peaked in 1938 at 37,732. As of 2006, there are still about 8,000 who claim to be of this class.

'Pastor' Russell claimed that prophecies had been found that pointed positively to 1874 as the time when Jesus was due to be present (Zions Watch Tower, February 1881). When this proved to be wrong, the organisation claimed that the second coming would be invisible and would happen in 1914.

Since 1935 there has been a change in emphasis from the heavenly hope to the earthly hope (because they reckoned all of the 144,000 had been called). My parents bought into this - they were called the 'Jonadab' class and believed they would be alive to see the new kingdom established on earth. Why, even in the book 'The Nations Shall Know That I Am Jehovah' on page 216, they said "Within your 20th century the battle in the day of Jehovah will begin."

All that's changed is that new Jehovah's Witnesses are told they can hope to live forever on a paradise earth. Heaven is already full up. Not that it says any such thing in my Bible, though.

No where (including in WT publications) does it teach that.

Further:

You quote - "Then as "light flashed up" to reveal clearly the identity of the " great crowd" of Revelation 7:9, the emphasis began to be placed on the earthly hope"

Well, that's not what you stated in your question now is it? Doesn't say the entrance to heaven is closed. Doesn't say that the entrance to the Christian congregation is closed.

Once, again - half truths, Nina.

There is no such kind of revelation in the Bible. How can this Watchtower cults claim Christianity when they are twisting the Word of God and explain the Word of God in the light of their own human understanding? Surely this is an intellectual suicide. A big spiritual crime againsts God's main will of Revelations 4:11.

Arianism: Heresy of the early Christian Church revisited by Charles Taze Russel.

Adventism: Claims to know the date of the end of world. Wrong many times in the past about similar dates...hey eventually they may be correct...the world will end?!

The entrance into the Christian congregation is still open. We have almost 7,000,000 brothers and sisters now. More are on the way every day.
