I had a Gideons given to me free at my bus stop leaving school. I'd prefer KJV as well, it's the one used by most fundamentalists, therefore the one I need to use if I'll indulge in wordplay with them.

Visit most any church, and ask for a Bible. They should find one for you.

Or you can contact the Gideons, who give away millions of Bibles every year.

Go to any local church and ask. Most churches I have been in (my ministry takes me into tons of them) have a notice in the bulletin saying they'll give you a Bible if you need one.

Actually, if you take one from the hotel, you aren't really stealing it. They are placed there by the Gideons, a missionary organization of businessmen for the purpose you think is stealing. It's yours to take if you want it.

Jehovah's Witnesses. We have the Bible in several translations for free. Depending on the individual congregation, they may have them either in stock or available in a couple weeks order.

Either way, we do not charge for anything. Neither are collection plates passed at any meeting nor for any free home Bible study.

From the American Bible society or from a church -- you don't need to steal it, just ask the church secretary for one.
