My 18 month old can count to ten, knows the alphabet, and can sing at least 10 different nursery songs. She also knows some colors and shapes, many different animals and names for other objects. She can also speak in small sentences like "thank you mama" "want water please" . What do you think? BTW she is also a twin. Her sister is not too far behind her in these areas...

My son could do those things at 18 months. I'm not saying she isn't smart, but...really, why do you care if she's advanced? She's a baby, for goodness sake! You know she isn't delayed, so there's no point in slapping a label on her. All labels such as "advanced" or "gifted" do for young children is give their parents yet another way to drive everyone to whom they brag out of their minds. Maybe my son is "advanced" or "gifted," or maybe he's just a bright kid. I really couldn't care less. Childhood is so short as it is - just love her, have fun with her, and forget about pointless labels for the time being.

Not to minimize your daughter's precociousness, but she probably knows these things by rote. In other words, she has been coached and has memorized a lot of it, which in itself is a mark of advanced intelligence. I'd say give them as much to learn as they can absorb. And this is a good age to start. Your daughters will most likely be at the top of all their classes in school. Lucky you!

My 18th month old could do all that too, She is now 11 and no brighter or advanced than the others in her class, BUT she loves to learn and is very curious when it comes to school.
Keep feeding her and her Twins little mind They love to learn so let them LEARN

not really. i have the two's class at my daycare. i have kids aged 18 months to 2 yrs. all of my kids can do these same things. children really are like little sponges. hurray for you for taking the time to teach your children! it's all about repetition. your children are well on their way to being ready for kindergarten. as a matter of fact, i'll bet they have a good head start on others in their class! way to go mom and kudos to you!

Yes, she's advanced for 18 months. Now work on other areas, like fine- and gross-motor control, behavior and sitting still.

Wow, that's awesome! That is really good. My daughter is 15 months old and can say 1-2 word sentances but, can't count etc...yet. How did you get her to do all that stuff?

for that age she is very intelligent, but i would start working with her more as she becomes older that way she starts off well in school and is not behind.
