it is sooo NOT just a cat. A cat is more then a pet. (Sorry this may not help) but a dog is more then a cat. So u don't feel so alone talk to your friends on your computer. You have to have aim or som other im service. If that dosn't work try callling someone who cares. Like a grandmom or aunt or cousin. Make sure it is someone that will listen. A busy dad who works a 70 hour shift and if preping for a meeting is not a good example. Anyway the point is make sure they will confrot you and make you feel somewhat better. What i'm about to tell you next works for somepeople and not others look through pics and find ones of goods times you guys had together. Some people like to get a new cat right away. Some like to ease into the thought of that. To cheer up find a way to lol or some1 who will make u lol. Just try something out of the orradary. When my bro. died in a motorcycle crash my dad was shicked but became not as upset (he still is to this day) by hanging around people he loves like me and my many st. sises! Please cheer up!

Hey Lace. I lost my 100lb German Shepard Dingo a few months ago (http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=21919866). I was there to pick his body up from the street and to say it was heartbreaking is like not describing it at all. I went through a deep depression and my sister was unconsolible for a month or so. Though the best thing to do is get another one at a shelter that is suffering as you are - though for no reason. Im not telling you to replace him, just to put it in the back of your mind as best you can and get another bud that will bring you as much love and friendship as the last. I feel very sorry for you and offer you my full condolences. Loosing a pet is like loosing a child, but the quicker you give another one a home the quicker the immense short term reality of it will go away. Best of luck~

No Sweetie, it's not just a cat. She was your friend and you have every right to cry. Cats become members of our family and it's devastating when they die. Take this as a hard lesson learned about letting your cat out unsupervised. When you're ready, consider adopting another kitty from the pound or shelter and use what you've learned to give her a great life. Time will make it better. I lost a kitty 8 months ago and I still cry for her. This poem helped me put things in perspective. Maybe it will help you.

I'm so sorry for your loss:( I too am an animal lover and have lost my best friends. And it isn't just a cat she was and will always be a beloved member of your family! If I were you I would wait a few weeks to get over your recent loss and then go to a shelter and adopt a new kitty to love you and be loved by you. Again I am truly sorry for your loss.

Loss of pets from any cause can be upsetting but when it happens suddenly it can be as traumatic as the death of a family member. Treasure the memories and when you feel the need again, find a new cat to fill your life with joy again.
You are in my heart this New Year,
Rose P.

oh, i am so sorry. of course its not just a cat. I know how it feels to lose a pet. I lost a lot of pets. and i also lost my 2 cats to coyotes. i feel better because i love animals, and i love animals so much. I always interact with animals, and i always feel better when i see an animal, and get to pet them and play with them. i know it hurts to lose your cat, i know it does. But I would get another kitten if i were you. Just give it a try. I know there is plenty of love in your heart for other animals.
Your cat is in a better place. Believe me. I wish you the best
Love always,
jay

Dear Lace,
You have every right to grieve this loved member of your family... Now get down to the shelter before they put your new kitten to sleep.
Hugs,
PennyAnn

Firstly I am so sorry.
I really feel for you , losing a cat is like losing your best friend.
Its never easy.
I always think of my darling Penny , she died 2 yrs ago now and I will never forget her.
Think of the good times , the happy times and the joy she gave you.
At least she is no longer in pain.
happy memories
