Most likely because it was directed a Muslims who have endured a lot of verbal abuse in this forum. I find it a little funny but then I also think they might take offense to being linked to a dog. (which are not looked highly on in Islamic countries.) There is also the problem of linguistic translation. This may be funny in English because we get the double meaning of it, but it might not translate well into another language. (Their words don't sound like ours so they might not get it)

EDIT: Muhammad made strange and harsh statements about dogs and these edicts affect dogs in a tragic way. His teachings may have come from cultural bias, Pagan concepts, or his own imagination, but wherever they came from they led to the cruel treatment of dogs.

None of the statements regarding dogs are found in the Quran but they abound in the various collections of traditions (hadith). These traditions are a primary foundation of Islamic theology and are the basis of many Islamic laws. They render dogs as "impure" and worse. Per Muhammad’s orders most dogs were to be killed and all dogs of a specific color (black) had to be killed.

A dog, in Islam, is considered a very dirty animal. If a dog licks even just your hand you have to go and do the ritual cleaning again before you pray. This does not mean we hate them, we just consider them filthy. To be called a dog is a very bad insult.

I wish the person had told you about this rather than reported your joke. Too many people assume everyone knows this. For your sake I am sorry maybe a few people can learn from this now.

Smokey is right there is a hadith about a man giving water to a thirsty dog and God giving the man heaven for this.

And no dogs are NOT supposed to be killed according to Islam. God did put them on earth for a reason. They are one of his creatures.

I think puns, jokes, riddles, and things of such belong in the Jokes & Riddles section, not Religion & Spirituality.

EDIT- oh, I see, well then I guess people just can't take a joke.

its better not to joke about religion there are many other things to joke about but people take thier religion seriously and its not nice to make jokes about it coz your hurting their feelings you wouldnt like it if i made a joke about your mum or someone/something you love, and respect?
and if u dont have anyting good to say then just dont say it

i saw an answer and some1 said that muhammed hated dogs and ordered them to be killed etc just want to say that is actually false muslims do see dogs as unclean due to their saliva and germs etc.. but in islam we have to be kind and respect to all gods creatures there was a hadith about how a man was really thirsty and had a little bit of water then came a dog who was also very thirsty they wer in a desert the man was just about to drink but then he decied to give the water to the dog instead and god granted him a place in heaven because of that act so you see muhammed our prophet pbuh and islam doesnt teach muslims to be cruel to any animals but to respect and care for them.

If you didntt mean it then its ok we joke togthor as muslims aswell were not that seriouse all the time u know we have a laugh aswell (wer only humans) but there are sooo many racist people against muslims nowdays we just feel that we always have to defend our religion and not make people humilate it coz it means alot to us i guess people will never understand, i dont like that i have to defend my religion all the time i just think people should respect... but anyway thats ok if u didnt mean to, dont feel bad:)

Humor and Islam tend to avoid one another.

You have grossly misunderstood the meaning of a pun.
Peace to you.

There is no humor in Islam.

The only humor is at other's expense.
