I just came out of the shower half an hour ago. My hair is damp but my skin on my face (near my cheeks, nose, and lip area) is dry. I don't know which household item to use. I'm thinking of using vasaline and lotion, but last time I used it, it gave me oily skin and acne. What kind of lotion should I use? I have body lotion and hand lotion.

Don't forget olive oil...it is a great moisturizer. Another one is from the summer...aloe vera gel, do you have some?

When I have dry patches, I take a little lotion or whatever on a wet rag and scrub gently in small circles over my face, then rinse out the rag, rinse my face with it, and apply a little more lotion to my damp skin...my skin feels great when I do this. Vaseline won't allow your skin to breathe, it clogs pores.

If you want to keep this from happening in the future, try a couple different things that don't have to do with skin care...

Keep yourself hydrated by drinking your water. It helps keep the skin plump and supple, and also helps purify your whole body so acne isn't as bad.

Put some humidity back in the winter air by using a vaporizer, a pot of water simmering on the stove, or leaving your bathroom door open when you shower, or leaving your hot bathwater in the tub for an hour or two after you get done...part of the water will evaporate into the air.

You need to use a face cream, other creams will be too strong. But if you dont have any right now then the hand lotion will be better than the body lotion.
Although some body lotions are ok for the face too but it will say so on the bottle.

Hand lotion is usually stronger and only for the tough skin on your hands.
Body lotion would be for the other parts of your body.
Don't use vaseline, it is too greasy.
I use Udderly Smooth lotion, it is not greasy.
Though I did get some Oil of Olay lotion for my face.
Try to stick to face cream or lotion for your face because facial skin is more sensitive.

Hey your not the only one, my brother has really dry skin and here are some tips- Use baby oil and coco butter. Vaseline will help your lips. You can always find special soap or bubbles to help your skin. I wouldn't use lotion stick to what I told you and your skin will be okay. I know because that is what I use and I am voted ''most pretty skin in my whole school.

For dry skin I use Aveeno or Skin Milk. Vasaline is good for cracked hands, lips, noses, feet and elbows, but not the best choice for dry skin on your face because it will cause clogged pores.

Try Aveeno, Skin Milk, or another facial moistureizer.

You may want to invest in a humidifier for your room to help with dry skin. This may be caused by your facial cleanser, it may be too harsh. Try using one that is for sensitive or dry skin, or something that is less harsh. Your shower water might be too hot as well, that will cause dry skin. Try washing, or at least rinsing, with lukewarm or cool water. It is better for hair and skin!

okay wellll, for house-hold items, i would use tea-tree clenser, at the body shop, orrrrr yu could use for you face oil of olay, and if its not that, then put somt face lotion on and no vasaline, and take a towlet(warm water only, not hot or cold.) and just slightly wipe a little off. and for your lips, just keep applying carmex, blistex or vapor rub. (i know vapor rub is weird but it reallllllyyyy works. ohh and before you do that adding carmex and what not, get another towlet and soap and kinda scrub your lips. hope i could help!!! =)

It could just be the weather or that you bathed with really hot water (this strips moisture away).
If you have time you can actually do this at home with kitchen ingredients.

face mask: use only the egg white and 2 tablespoons of oatmeal (plain) and mix them together. apply to entire face and leave on until dry(about 10 min). rinse with warm(not hot!!!!!)water and pat dry.
Next.....
apply mayonnaise (yes mayo)to entire face and let it set for 20 minutes. rinse and pat dry!!
its amazing!!
good luck!

Use lotion. Doesn't matter whether it's body or hand. Vasaline is grease. Grease = cloged pores =acne.

If your skin, anywhere on your body or face is dry, you should be using unscented moisturizers.
Scented products contain alcohols which make dry skin even drier, and acne breakouts worse.

oil of olay face lotion. if you live in a cold climate, the chilly weather can wreak havoc on your skin, as it does to mine in the winter time. Olay works for me!
