If so, does this rule extend to guide dogs, also?

I work in blindness rehabilitation, and I am curious.

Dogs for outdoors (hunting, farming, etc)- Yes.

Indoors (pets) - No. (Yes IF the owner are very hardworking to clean their pee/poops on floor with 7 times washings.

So, muslims prefer cats.

I think guide dogs should be OK for muslims - with restriction that the dog stays outdoor and not treated as pets (no licking and all).
Muslims can touch dogs skin dry. If not, have to "samak" (7 times washings).

If Allah has said that dogs are 'unclean', they should be ALL THE TIME, and not just when is suits the faithful.
Using dogs ONLY for security or outside pets seems to be bednding the rules to suit yourself...
Just an outsiders point of view.

Its a bit like if a J.W., knowing God is against the use of blood, ONLY uses it when cut badly.
A true J.W. would rather die than disobey God.
And worldwide, we have seen many examples of that.

A good Muslim would not own a dog or touch a dog, according to a Muslim friend. They are unclean. Guide dogs are dogs, so there is your answer.

It is not okay to keep them as indoor pets, but they may be kept outdoor for valid reasons such as security. The reason for this is that they are impure.

Muslims can own dogs. If they do, they have to feed and clean their dogs n give them care like any ordinary owner.
But they'll have to wash themselves ( whatever part that has been touched by the dog ) with soil and water 7 times. Yes, is include guide dogs too. If we abandon the dogs, as an owner, we are sinful.
