When I am about to fall asleep at night I get terrieble frightened. I start to think I hear people breaking into my house, that someone is breaking into my bedroom. I start to hear things and see things that aren't there. Completely irrational things, like after I see one of those end of the words flesh eating zombie movies I think those zombies are breaking in my house, or are in my bedroom. I know I need to stop watching movies like that, but is this normal? Pretty much I fall asleep to the tv at night to avoid the quit and dark that these crazy fears develop from. Am I having panic attacks, Am I nuts.

You are not nuts! Scary movies freak a lot of people out. I think you need to stop watching them. Limit yourself to comedies, things that make you laugh & smile.

Don't worry, you're just a little paranoid and scared. I am too. I get really scared to sleep sometimes especially because in my area theres some ninja burglar and he's robbed the houses right next to mine. I saw a whole bunch of movies and then I think that those scenes are going to happen to me. I suggest getting a night light or fall asleep watching a movie and put a tv timer on so that it turns off in an hour or two.

First of all avoid triggering things, like scary movies for example. Plan a cirtian bedtime. Start half an hour to an hour before that time and begin calming your mind and body. I recomend turning off the telivision completly. Listen to music or read a book. I find it particul arly relaxing to takea hot bath. It is important to be aware of your thoughts. Keep your self focused on plesant things. If you do choose to watch televison (which is proven stimulating) keep it funny or cute. I even suggest avoiding violence and most cartoons. If you continue to have these illusions for two weeks after implementing the techniques i mentioned I recomend talking to your doctor. Good luck and sweet dreams!

Well here is something you can do. Make sure your closet door is closed and there is no junk ex. shoes clothes hanging on chairs or off the mirror. These things make your room look scary. It use to happen to me a lot as a kid. Also take the stuff from under your bed and for goodness sakes if all else fails get a little nite light.

first stop the scary movies before bed, or all together, if that doesn't help. you are probalby having panic attacks, brought on by watching the scary movies. see if that helps.... if you still are having the feelings at night, after a few weeks, then I might see a doctor and see about getting something either for sleep or the anxiety/panic attacks....

No, you're not nuts, but you're easily influenced by the horror films. I would certainly not watch them any more. You have to remember, however, that they are just movies and not real, but if you put yourself into the scene, you're going to be frightened and possibly have nightmares. Try watching some comedies or musicals if you must watch TV before bedtime.

You are fine!! I get like that if I am sleeping alone! I wouldn't go seek any help, you are not nuts! With all the scary movies and crazy people out there it's very normal to be afraid. I wouldn't watch any scary movies before bed until you can realize that nothing is going to get you!!! ;)
