Can the Ice + Salt combo cause frostbite?

How much skin can it "eat" through.

Yes, the combination can cause frostbite. Depending on duration, I've had salt and ice eat through 2 or 3 layers of skin.

No it is temperatures remaining below freezing that cause frostbite. If you get some salt plus ice on your exposed skin it will probably be off before it causes damage. Salt plus ice does not "eat" through skin. It will go into cracks of your skin and cause a stinging sensation. It does not make those cracks however, just flows into them.
