Atheists don't 'preach'.

Anyway, some Atheists say that abstinence is better, and some don't. But it's for health reasons, not religious.

It seems somewhere along the line someone got the idea that atheists are bad people, immoral, mean, cruel, violent, etc. However they come from all walks of life and they are normal human being just like the non atheists. The have values and morals probably at the same percentage level as non atheists. The difference is the belief center or should I say a non belief center. Should not be judged as bad people.

It depends on the atheist.
As a whole it's not preached, but atheists don't really preach anything on the issue... atheism is too diverse of a 'religion' to have united views.

I, though, am atheist and I do believe in abstinence.

Atheists don't "preach".

Abstinence is more of a religious concept. And teaching abstinence alone doesn't work. People are going to have sex. Its natural, and normal. Its better to show people how they can protect themselves.

I don't think they preach. But as an atheist, I say **** abstinence. I mean come the **** on. I don't think sex is evil like so many Evangelicals would like you to believe.

I strongly encourage responsibility with sexuality. Abstinence is a logical choice for many.

Sex is both a natural and powerful drive. It is easy to ruled by it. So I say do what you like, but cause no harm and be aware of the consequences.

Most of us don't preach at all.

I believe abstinence to be useful until a person wishes to deal with the full range of responsibility that a sexually active person needs to deal with but I don't believe it has to be maintained until marriage.

As a father of 4 boys, and an Atheist.

I do.

But I also teach them about responsibility and respect and protection, because I am aware that teenagers do make mistakes and if it is going to happen, I want them to be as informed about the risks and safety issues as possible.

Basically, I tell them that abstinence is a sure way to avoid all sexual problems, but that if the time comes when a sex is inevitable, protection is a requirement. But sex is never inevitable. Sounds circular, but if you are a teenager with hormones running rampant and you find that its gonna happen, I wan't you to be prepared and safe about it.

No. Preaching is a religious thing, and atheists don't believe in religion. Therefore, they do not preach.

All they do is preach about how religion is wrong, you'd think that with all the time and energy they spend, they could be doing something useful to society... oh well, I guess they could always get jobs as telemarketers since they are so good at being loud and obnoxious... Gotta fill those minimum wage jobs!
