I think that you can entertain the notion of things in their most perfect or ideal form without being naive enough to believe its always going to be that way.

I think so. I think naive people are ignorant of things and don't have a clear picture of how things are, therefore they see things more innocently. I think idealistic people know how the world works, but seem to believe things will always turn out for the better.

IMO, yes. I am not naive, but I am idealistic. I am a romantic, cynical, idealist. I believe we are capable of the best, but will most likely always fall short due to shear laziness and apathy. Still, I have my precious, precious bit of hope and I'm not letting go of that.

Idealistic means that you believe that thought makes up reality. Naivete means lacking experience, understanding or sophistication.
So that would be a matter of opinion.

It is easier to be idealistic when you are naive. Real experience makes it a lot more difficult to have absolute "black and white" views.
