That's because they are not equal.
The holy spirit is Jehovah's power. Wilfull resistance against God's spirit is resisting Jehovah himself. That is why it is unforgivable.

The ministry of the Holy Spirit is so vital in His attributes, His many titles, but I am going to set down the works of the Holy Spirit. Time and space does not permit my giving scriptures but see my profile and email me if you want that information. Be glad to give it.
1. In the Old Testament: a. creation b. indwelling certain men, c. convictring men d. enableing men to serve God, e. writing the scriptures.
2. In the Life of Christ a. His birth, b. His baptism, c. His temptation, d. His anointing, e. His teaching, f. His miracles, g His death, His resurrection.
3. In the World: a convictis, b calls, c witnessed to Christ, d Regenerates
4. In the Believer: a. glorifies Christ, b indwells, c. instills, d. imparts fruits of the spirit, e. imparts gifts of the Sprit, f. seals the believer
g. communes, h. teaches, i. prays, j. wars with the flesh, k. comforts,l. sanctifies, m. empowers for service.
5. In the church: a. forms the body of Christ, b. appoints offices, c. Gives guidance
It is His duty to convict and convince men of their sinfulness and that Christ died for "whosoever will..." and when someone rejects that, they have rejected what God wrought in Jesus and are therefore, sinning against the Holy Spirit the unforgivable sin.
Rejecting the one who died to redeem us from the penalty of eternal damnation. So many do not understand that that is the actual unpardonable sin the bible talks about.
There are two very erronious answers given by two answeres here in that regard. The above is the sin that cannot be forgiven, all other can be.
There are two general types of sin which may be committed against the Holy Spirit-forgivable ones (of which eveyrone is guilty), and the unforgivable sin which differs from forgiveable sins on two specific grounds: 1. It can only be committed by a lost person. In the context where this sin is found, it was the unteachable Pharisees who were charged as guilty of this high crime (Matt.12:22-29).
2. It can only be committed by men so hopelessly depraved that they actually attribute the miracles of the Holy Spirit through Christ to the source of Satan. When Jesus performed miracles it attested to His deity and the veracity of His message (Mark 2:1-12). Therefore, to reject the Spirit's work in this matter was to reject God's very plan of salvation and thus fall into the unparonable snare of condemnation. (see Matt. 12:22-23 for the full context of this sin.

The Holy Spirit was sent to dwell with mankind after Jesus ascended back into heaven to be a comforter until God returns back to earth. It is recognized Christians acknowledge the Holy Spirit because God is on the throne in Heaven and to blaspheme the Holy Spirit is doing the same to God.

Perhaps the Holy Spirit is on earth and Jesus is in Heaven. I don't believe anyone knows ,but that does make some sense. The Holy Spirit dwells among us and that could be the reason. I honestly do not know.

"Seeing they are equivalent" -- the place do you notice this? merely because of the fact God is God, Human, and Spirit does not advise "equality", for Philippians 2:5-7 says "...Christ Jesus, who, nonetheless he became in one in each of those God, did no longer count variety equality with God a factor of be grasped, yet made himself no longer something, taking one in each of those a servant, being born in the likeness of fellows." they are equivalent in procedures and unequal in others. Jesus stated the father is larger than I. Trinity does not could desire to advise "equality". My question to you: If God is all-powerful and omnipresent, is it achievable he made a factor of himself right into a human and is likewise an lively useful Spirit? Can he do this? Is he able? God continues to be God together as he's a human displaying others "the way" and baptizes along with his Spirit. they are each and each an analogous being yet unique of their very own transformations. to respond to your question, once you reject the Holy Spirit, you're rejecting God's Spirit AND Jesus' Helper. Now which you won my answer, you may run alongside and play now.

Blaspheming the holy spirit and sinning are not the same thing. Blaspheming the holy spirit is continually turning away from God and refusing to let the holy spirit into your heart. You can't follow Christ if you are blaspheming the holy spirit...no Christ, no eternal life.

Jesus knew the hearts of the individuals in this passage of scripture. These people had accused Jesus of performing miracles by the power of Satan instead of the power of God. There is no sin that you can commit that God will not forgive if you repent of it. He knew that these would not repent of it so He told them that they would not be forgiven. If there was a sin that we can commit that God won't forgive, no one would make it to heaven and Jesus would have died in vain. He was dealing with the individuals present there on that day.

Jesus was being accused of casting out demons by the power of demons when He was healing people. The Pharisees were blaspheming the miracles of God by claiming they were the work of the devil when Jesus said this to them.
