I feel that the oil has an important meaning. What does it symbolize / stand for, if you will?

2007-12-30 13:32:54 · update #1

This is futuristic. Who can buy and sell at that time? The five virgins who went to buy oil must have received what in order to buy more oil?

2007-12-30 13:45:44 · update #2

No one has quite got a handle on this.

The oil in the virgins' lamps symbolizes truth. Five of the virgins have their lamps full of truth. The other five don't, so they go buy some. Their problem, however, is antichrist's one world system:

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Revelation 13:17

Therefore, these last five virgins had the mark of the beast, which means that they've been unfaithful by worshiping the antichrist, satin, the devil, the dragon - he has many names. That's why Christ says to them:

But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Matthew 25:12

The bridegroom is Jesus Christ, the virgins are Christians. The wise are the true followers, the foolish are those who give lip service only to their faith in Christ. The oil, the grace and salvation of God, or that faith which works by love, oil also represents the Holy Spirit, and the lamp is our hearts. The foolish, allowed their faith to grow cold, while the wise kept the fire burning in their hearts.

When the Lord came, the foolish were not prepared for him.
Backslidden from the salvation of God, and now they are excluded from heaven, because, through their carelessness.they have let the light that was in them become darkness.

Those who were prepared, entered in and the doors were shut.
The message is to be prepared and on fire always. Do not let the Light of the gospel go out in your heart. No one knows when the Lord shall return for his church!

I'll just add

the wicks

If the wick of an oil lamp is not kept trimmed it will give off so much black smoke it will choke you out of the room, cover the walls with soot and darken any light the lamp would have produced

a metaphor for keeping a watch on one's out put as well as what is inside(oil)

The 5 clever virgins have been waiting with their lamps trimmed and burning in the previous the bride groom have been given there. The 5 silly virgins weren't waiting and while they did arrive lower back with their lamps it replaced into too previous due. This tale is with regard to the 2nd coming of Jesus. properly, kinda. while Jesus is composed of the earth a 2nd time there will be 2 communities of human beings, people who're waiting and people who're no longer. or only positioned people who would be in heaven and people who isn't.

We have two classes today thats professing to be the Bride of Christ, the Bible speaks there will be two classes the wise virgins, the foolish virgins. The women continue on their way of doing, the men continue in their way of doing. The wise and foolish [ both are invited ] they both had vessels, they both were virgins believers. They both had vessels. We cannot outsmart the devil,JESUS knew this ,so He sent us the Holy Ghost, the church does not claim to be smart, but they just claim to believe.Jesus sent the Holy Ghost which is himself to get in to those thats behind the worst like Abrahams group. To confirm the Word before them,to show that He is still the Word.Fire in the confirmation of the Light coming from the Word. The smart virgin is the wise virgin had oil in her lamp, and trimmed her lamp and lit it.God is the Word. The oil is the Spirit, the Fire is the Gospel Light on that oil.God said so,so thats the vessel, the oil is in the vessel, and the fire, burning it,shows its reflection the Light of the Word said,Thats the reflection the wise virgins could do that.Foolish virgins, was the outside, had no oil and they couldn't reflect nothing but just their church and their denomination.God said,My Word is Spirit. The true Bride must be unified in the Word, remember it,She is a part of Christ, she has to be the Word of Christ. In order to be the Word of Christ, you have to be baptized into Christ, and when you're in Christ, you believe Christ and Christ is the Word. The Bride must be unified together by the Word. And MY SHEEP HEAR MY VOICE and this is His voice in printed word,Unified tigether by the Word, she makes herself ready.Esther adorned herself with a sweet meek, spirit the Bride adorns herself with all of the fruits of the Spirit following it.What she got?Assembly together in the fellowship of the WORD.Fellowship of the Word, fellowshipping, sitting together in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus, one accord, one place, one Spirit, one mind, one hope, one GOD,one purpose,AMEN Everytime the Bible says anything We say Amen....Fruits of the Spirit Joy-of her heart knowing that He is coming soon.Amen Peace of mind-no matter what comes let lights flash, thunder roar, what ever takes place don't make a bit of differance,Fortified in the Word, the WORD made flesh dwelling among us,watching Him move among us.Assembling for fellowship, joy one fruits of the Spirit,Peace of mind, faith in the Word, peace, joy, faith, long suffering, patience, gentleness.

Yes. Both Matthew chapters 24 and 25 are referring to the Jews. The passage you reference in particular is talking about Jews who remain on earth after the rapture of the church and the world takeover of the antichrist. Some of them will come to believe in Jesus as their Messiah and will be ready for His second coming, and some of them will continue to reject Him and will not be ready and will not enter the kingdom of Heaven.

The parable of the ten virgins and of the talents. The description of the last judgment. Reminder to be prepared for Christ's return.

5 of the virgins were ready for the party because they prepared, the other 5 were foolish and did not think ahead. It means that some people will be ready for Christ's coming, and other's will not be. Basically, the parable says "Be on your toes, I could come at any moment."

The oil has no meaning. It doesn't symbolize anything.

What it shows is the following.

1) All are invited into God's kingdom.

2) Not everyone who is invited gets in.

In short, it's not a free ride, it's not easy or automatic. You can screw yourself out of your own salvation.

The bridegroom (Jesus) can come at any moment, so we must be ready at ALL times. Five of them were prepared for His arrival, five were foolish and weren't prepared
