like apply for a walmart card and not getting the card

just so you know i have good credit that's was i was mad because it was a waste of good points and i wanted to know what the damage was

How many points depends on your current credit file.
If you have a thick file you may only see 1 or 2 points. If you have a thin file you could see 7 points or more.
It basically takes up to 6 months for the ding from the inquiry to lessen and at the one year mark the inquiry has no impact (unless it is noted by a mortgage underwriter).

If you were denied the Walmart card then you might call and ask for a reconsideration. If the CSR seems unhelpful ask to speak to either a supervisor or an underwriter.
Many (but not all) people who had been denied have ended up being approved because of a recon call.

I understand this is not what you asked but a better question would be to know why you got denied in the first place and fix THAT....
