There's alot of sensitive religious people out there, but we're not all like that. I'm Christian, but I'll watch South Park and laugh at all the religious jokes and whatnot, because in my opinion, being religious doesn't mean you can't have a sense of humor. It's not like I'm sinning from thinking a joke is funny and it's sad that many people think you're going to hell for watching a certain show, or dressing up for Halloween, or being friends with an Atheist. I respect everybody and we all need to laugh at ourselves sometimes.

1) For most people, their religion is the religion of their parents. So any criticism is taken as an attack on their own family.
2) For many, it is not rational, logical, or subject to objective analysis. Here the criticism is taken even more personally.
3) If you are a believer, religion comprises your path to heaven. Why would you allow another person to interfere with your ascension?
4) Since there are so many misconceptions about religion afloat, people are touchy when their own religion is misrepresented. As two examples: modern-day Catholics do not like to defend the actions of the Church during the Dark Ages, and modern-day Mormons do not like to apologize for polygamy. When it comes to sects, cults, and less well-known denominations, just explaining the doctrines must become tedious after a while. As a Zen Buddhist, I have to explain things constantly, just to keep other people from exorcising me, or spraying me with that de-lousing powder they use. :)

There are different types of humor. Some jokes are transparently disrespectful, while others are not. Disrespect tends to result in hurt feelings. Some see disrespect where none was meant. Some people are more sensitive than others. Some jokes are more disrespectful than others.

Dude word how in particular the Atheists troll yet their hypocrites and blame Christians. I published a query as quickly as asking Christians purely,a Atheists commented with a troll answer and later my question grow to be deleted. So yeah i think Atheism is a faith now from seeing how their continually interior the "faith AND SPIRITUALITY" communicate board.

Different people have different things dear to them. If you know a person who is sensitive about a particular issue then take that into consideration - its part of being able to function in a multi-value society peacefully.

Because there is a foundation and core of truth out there. SOMETHING has to happen when we die. Those that believe they know the truth are very defensive. I do believe I have the truth in Christ. I used to be very offended when people talked about it, but now it doesn't bother me. I know the truth of the cross offends. Those that choose to believe will, and those that don't choose won't....I can't feel responsible for them anymore.

First of all, god is not amused by much of anything, so if you start cracking jokes in his general direction he'll get even more annoyed.
You maybe ought to read about his tantrums and rancorous entanglements with mortals in the bible.
The bible contains everything you need to know to strike fear into your heart, including the eternal torments that he has devised for all atheists, such as myself....

Because people use it to control, ostracize and label others that don't believe as they do.
Why does "something" have to happen when we die? Why? Everything else dies, Why is it different for us? Isn't that a bit arrogant to assume?

When you love something its natural to defend it! Christ needs no defending his record is out there for all to see. For me he asked me to talk to others about his love, but with gentleness and reverence to all that don't have a belief as mine. Sometimes us Christians forget that. If Christians have ever slammed you we apologize its our love for Christ that sometimes blinds is to the very mission he came to earth for. God bless you all!
