By law he should have put her away. But he appears to be more concerned about doing what God wanted, than what man thought he should do.Nothing much is said about this wonderful man who cared for the mother of Jesus and the Child within her.He traveled far from home to protect Jesus.Something that Mary could not have done on her own.Was Joseph not blessed as well as Mary was?

I wrote this before I read your paragraph, oops. Edited and preached a sermon, oops again.
First of all I imagine that he felt very blessed when the angel of God appeared to him in a dream and told him not to be afraid to take Mary as his wife for she was conceived through the Holy Spirit. I imagine that he felt honored (as a protector of the family) when the angel warned him in a dream to take Mary and Jesus into Egypt because Herod wanted to kill him.
They didn't have sexual relations until after Jesus was born, that says something about his character. He was a righteous man.
Joseph and Mary worried about Jesus when he was in the temple as a young boy and they couldn't find him.
I think that Joseph was a carpenter also, he probably taught Jesus this trade.
God chose him and thats whats important I guess.
Imagine marrying a woman who is carrying your Savior and Lord, the promised Messiah! My goodness :

I never really thought about this but looking up things like this gets the brain working I guess.

Josephs linage leads to Christ and he was the step father, isn't this God's way of showing us that it is Christ who chooses the vessel for the purpose he chooses, but everything points us to Christ.
Jesus did so much when he was on the earth that all the books in the world couldn't contain it. (I hope I said that right)
Maybe when we go to heaven God will take us back to a journey back in time, and we can see and feel everything the way it happened, but wouldn't it be nice if we could see and feel every thing that Jesus did? Well, that is exactly what he wants to do in us, give us his heart felt emotion, the fruits of the spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, goodness ,gentleness, meekness and self control.
He wants to give us his resurrection power and strengthen and build us up in the word of his grace.(imagine Gods loving power drawing others when you look into their eyes.)
Jesus became sin for us, this is why He came! The judicial justice of God is satisfied for he paid the price and finished the work on the cross, tetelestai! All of your sins, past, present and future sins, paid for! He is just and forgives them all and is justified in doing so! Confessing them is to restore fellowship and he cleanses us from the sin. His blood is holy, and is what he says it is, it is not like the blood of bulls and goats but the precious, holy sinless Son of God, poured out His blood and became sin for you! You are now righteous in his eyes and it is his gift to you, it is free, we are no longer under the law.
Look how he taught people on the earth, he too wants to teach you and make you secure, relaxed and build up your integrity as his child. He has his hand on the door knob of your heart and it is dripping with myrrh, his desire for you is greater than any lover could ever be. The Son of God loves you!

I admire Joseph Very much. I think He was to be commended because He Listened to God when He Was found to be confused over Mary being Pregnant. Most men would have never bought that story. Joseph was just as blessed as Mary., A fine Man. The earthly Father of Jesus.

He seems to have been a very good father and loving husband. Since Christ was well educated his father was likely to be well educated himself. He must have been a hard worker, since he was in the working class, a carpenter, and yet the family was well provided for.

He was also from a long nobel Jewish line. So he was probably very religious. He must have also been fairly open mined for his time, since his son learned ideas from both the east and west.

As for those who talk for Mary's virginity: at the time "Virgin" also meant "Not raped by a Roman". So there is no need to think that Mary did not have a normal relationship with Joseph, or that she lied about Christ's parentage.

Overall, I think he was a very good man. A man that people should use as an example and hero.

Considering the actions he took concerning Mary after the visit by the angel I would think he was a very devout man of God. It is obvious in Scripture that he raised his children to observe all the ordinances of God as the Bible said

Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. Luke 2:41-43

Of course, Joseph was a wonderful and just man. God would not have trusted him with His Son Jesus if he was anything but a remarkable man! He raised a son that he knew belonged to God.He provided for Mary and Jesus and protected them. Yes, indeed he was a very fine man! Of course he was also blessed by knowing the Son of God. Joseph was a man who obeyed the Lord. He was also privileged to see the remarkable events surrounding Jesus' birth.

Joseph was a very humble man of God, an obedient man of God. HE was a kind and thoughtful man, that God knew could do what He needed him to do. He was as much involved in this event as Mary was. Yes, Mary and Joseph were both very blessed. And we who know Jesus and love Him and follow Him and pursue Him and live as HE lived, as we are commanded to do, are so very blessed as well.
There is no other way than thru Jesus Christ.
WHat a priviledge and honor to have Him as our saviour.
Great question. Thank you and God bless you to overflow.

Joseph had to be a remarkable man of faith. It took such faith and courage to go against tradition and the religious teachers of his day and trust God for Mary. Also, any of us who are married should respect him for keeping Mary safe and abstaining from his sexual privileges as her spouse(until after Jesus' birth and days of purification were over). That took so much restraint and honor.

God the Father trusted his Son, Jesus to Joseph's human fathering. I would love to speak to Joseph, some far off day in heaven and ask him for his perspective in all these matters. I think Joseph is one of the under-recognized heroes of the Faith!

I also believe God rewarded Joseph for the way he believed, trusted, worked, did all that He did to help Jesus and raise Him to be a good carpenter, good son and good Jewish man who could listen to God and become all Jesus was to become.

My daughter is answering this question- (she is 9) I asked her the question and she said she believes Joseph really trusted God- because when the angel told Joseph about Mary conceiving our Lord and Savior, he did whatever it was the Lord told him to do- so she said she believes he just really trusted God. She also adds that he was a very kind person, not only in general but also to Mary- and mentioned how he let Mary ride the donkey when they were traveling to Bethlehem.
(aren't the minds of kids wonderful? hehe)

Joseph is the perfect man. He is blessed same way as Mary is blessed. He was a vital tool when the Lord had walked this path. He epitomizes great humility and strength that we won't be able to find today.

Joseph was definitely God's man. I believe Joseph was an extremely blessed and devout householder in his community. I think also Joseph was selected by God as a perfect example, same as Mary was, for us to contemplate the deeper meaning. To me this family is the example of a God aware and directed family that totally trusted God and followed God's direction - they lived as a cohesive unit. They supported their child's higher calling. Joseph, and Mary as well, remind us all that the world's children (and all of us have been and in fact are the world's children, too) are God's own first. We really are our children's 'babysitters' and we should keep that in the forefront of our minds while raising our 'offspring', because the parent will come and demand an accounting of how we cared for His Children.

This Holy Family to me is about the biggest love we can show one another on this earthly walk. Uncondtional love and awareness that no one belongs to anyone else, truly, except to God. We are just care providers for one another, no matter what our age. Joseph is amazing for his openness, his understanding, his clarity, his practicality, his gifted abilities in his profession. A great role model for all men as is Mary a great role model for all women.
Just my opinion. Great Q Thanks :)

Edit: Well, something is just laid on my heart to add here:
