It it's addressed to your address return to sender.
If just dropped into the wrong mailbox, deliver yourself if closeby, otherwise write wrong delivery on there and drop into mailbox.
Though if it looks really obviously junk mail (e.g. addressed to name or current resident) throw into recycling bin.

I either put it in a plastic bag with a note for my carrier. If it's a neighbor's mail I just put it in that neighbor's mailbox.
Or, I'll drop it at the post office, it's a very small town, they'll get it to the right person.

Just put it back in the mailbox and raise the flag. The letter carrier will pick it up and it will go back to the post office, where it will be rerouted to the correct address.

Make a note that says "Wrong address" or "Addressee unknown", put it on the mail and hand it over to your mail carrier or if you are close to a post office, bring it over and have them re-route to the proper address.

You should write across the envelope 'delivered to wrong address' and put it back in your mailbox to be picked up

You deliver it to the Post Office or if the original address is on the packet, take it there yourself.

#1, if it is possible, hand it to the carrier and let him handle it...#2, take it to the post office and give it to one of the postal workers at the counter and explain the problem...Do not write on the envelope or do not throw it away.....

Circle the address and write "Not at this address" and return it to your mailbox. Your mailman will work it out.
