It said that Jesus had a child in the Da Vinci Code and although I know that it is a fictious book, it is actually based on historic investigation. My question is, does the bible ever mention that Jesus had a wife or a son? because if it does not say so, then I must assume that he did not have a child, and therefore it is dumb to look for clues to the truth, since the bible is the truth and we don't need any other evidence than the bible. what do you think?

no where at all in the bible does it say that jesus had a wife or child. and i think that you're right, when it comes to matters referring to jesus, the bible should be the primary source of information, not "facts" that people have "historically researched"

Dan Brown, author of 'The Da Vinci Code,' took a lot of interesting, odd, historical facts and tweaked them for literary use, much like they are doing with the Society of the Gormogons on _Bones._

As far as I know, the Bible does not mention Jesus ever marrying or having a son. It is speculated that Mary Magdalene might have been his wife, but there is no proof. It would seem reasonable to me for Jesus not to marry, as he had no job once he began his ministry and thus could not support a family

However, just because nothing of a wife or son is mentioned in the Bible does not mean he didn't marry or have children. All it means is that, if he had a wife or children, they were apparently not considered important enough by the early Christian writers to have mentioned them.

This is why there is no record of Jesus between age 12 and age 33; presumably, nothing that the writers considered of religious importance occurred to him during that time.

"Based on historic investigation" is a different thing entirely from "a record of historic investigation." In literature, for the purposes of telling a good story, embellishments are made to fill in the gaps left by history. In the case of the Da Vinci Code, from a historical standpoint, it is technically possible that Jesus could have been married because the Bible (and/or whatever other sources the author used) never specifically states that he wasn't.

However, the Bible definitely doesn't say he was, and it definitely doesn't say he had a child. Tradition definitely does say he was unmarried and childless.

Jesus never had any children.

You are right, the Da Vinci code is based on some investigation but it is still a fiction book. There was a man who made all kind of claims but before he died he confessed at 2000 that the whole thing was a hoax about the blood line of Jesus.

The Bible does not suggest that Jesus had a son or daughter nor does it suggest that he was married. The Da Vinci Code is a work of fiction that is not based at all in fact. There are plenty of good resources out there that show the many flaws in the Da Vinci Code. I recomment the Christian CADRE's page: http://www.christiancadre.org/Davinci.html as a good starting point.

The "official" Bible says nothing about that, but some earlier texts, known as Gnostic Scriptures, did. They described Jesus as a normal man who was able to communicate with God. The Gnostics taught that anyone with the right training would be able to come into connection with God. This went against the teachings of the orthodox Church, so the Gnostics were greatly discriminated against. The Catholic Church gathered as many of their texts and books as they could and, unfortunately, destroyed them.

Jesus said in Matthew 19
12For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it
Why would he ask others to do what He did not?
The accounts by Josephus and Philo show that the Essenes (Philo: Essaioi) led a strictly celibate but communal life. It was common for men, even John the Baptist, not to marry when they took on a Holy Life.

As you said the Da Vinci Code is fiction. There is nothing in the bible to suggest that Jesus was married or had children.

Jesus was a Jew. Marriage and children would have been a big issue. There is no scripture reference to Jesus having a family.
"The Da Vinci Code" was written to make money-not tell a truth.

The Da Vinci Code is not based on any real historical investigation but the wildest "scifi' speculation and fastasy.
