Truth is just a theory that humans thought of. In this case God told us the truth? So now I ask the atheists out there. How do you know the right from wrong. If there was no God, how do you know who's right. How did you find out killing is bad? How did you find out that stealing is bad? God said so. Either way, EVERYONE follows this because God said so.

Well then how do you know? How do you know that it is wrong? How do we know ANYTHING? How do we know how to breathe. How does your heart know to pump blood? How do we know how to reproduce?

I think true wisdom is knowing that you don't have it all figured out. I am a Christian, and I believe in alllll that but I don't think for one minute that I have cornered the market on truth, or that I have even the slightest fraction of capacity to understand what truth really is, and what we are really supposed to be doing. All I know to do is be nice to others, and praise God because he is good and holy and because he loves me. The rest is up for interpretation.

For me, as a Christian, this is where the holy spirit becomes very important. To me the holy spirit is what makes God personal to ME. It is the still small voice that points ME in the right direction, just like it points someone else in THEIR right direction. The art of living well, and living a holy life, in my opinion, is when people intersect paths and live to tell about it. What do we do? Compare and contrast? Defend our path, and try to destroy someone elses? Learn and grow? The choices are quite varied, and like I said, choosing well how we will treat each other, is the mark of someone who is walking in peace.

And I believe that where you find peace, you find God.

"How do you know what is the truth?"

-I go by evidence.

"Truth is just a theory that humans thought of."

-I know you've seen the big kids use the "theory" technique, don't....just don't. I'm sitting at my computer = Truth. I'm typing = truth... there's no theory involved, just statements of facts. Ok?

"In this case God told us the truth?"

-In what case? If you say something like that,it need to have the case you're refering before it. Btw, I thought that truth was a human theory? I'm not following your logic... is it a theory, or did god tell it? Or both?

"So now I ask the atheists out there. How do you know the right from wrong."

-Just right, no "the". I know it because society lays down the rules I follow. It's pretty easy, if it's illegal, it's usually wrong ;)

"If there was no God, how do you know who's right."

-Again, I'm confused... I know who is right usually by logic. If there are 2 people, and one states that "A" is true, and the other states that "B" is true. and "A" or "B" is true. I look at which one can prove his claim. Yet again I don't need god to tell me who's right. And I'd be surprised that anyone would expect him to be that involved.

"How did you find out killing is bad?"

-Socialization. I'm assuming my parents. I can't actually remember all the hints at he wrongness, but I'm assuming there were lots. The turning away from dead animals, not stepping on critters... not hitting people. Preactically any culture has a strong taboo about killing.

"How did you find out that stealing is bad?"

-This is easy... when I was a child I took some candy.. I must've been like 3. And my parents made me take it back and apologice. I also got punished for it. I guess I learned from that.

"God said so."

-My dad's god? Holy ****. I'm the messiah!!!

"Either way, EVERYONE follows this because God said so."

-You'd need a statement, or actually two before the "either" to use it properly. But I'm afraid that you're wrong anyways ;) People follow the morals and laws of their respective cultures...not god's sayso...and I'm willing to bt you're pretty much alone in your claims.

At least read your holy book...learn something about your faith before ranting here. Ok? You have no idea what you're doing... you make theists look bad

....unless you're a troll... then, good work :)

EDIT
------
Beginning of time... Sorry, still makes no sense. The beginning of time was billions of years ago, there was nobody to be told anything. And since I think humans are the result of evolution, it's hard to point out a beginning in a fluid process of change.

Your mistake is that you're assuming god, and giving him a function. Both are based on guesswork.

Most of human behaviour can be observed in animals too, and I'm sure you're not suggesting god also directs them. Even if you believed that early humans were given instructions that have somehow survived thru time, you have to take into account that animals don't have culture; god would have to personally instruct every newborn animal... but for some reason not humans. I guess god loves dogs more than you.

There are evolutionaty advantages for avoiding certain behaviours, and that alone is enough to explain it,there's no need to force god into it. would you like me to recomend a good sociology book so you'd get an idea of how human morals are constructed?

I'll leave you with this thought. If god says killing is wrong, why is it allowed in war, why self defence... why can cops kill if need be? Doesn't it look like people make the rules, and the rules aren't exact? Different rules, for different situations; or do you think god told the first humans that in 6000 years, when they invent this thing called a gun, here's when it can be used to kill... remeber that and pass it on...

For real?

I hate to disagree with you, Bboy, but a conscientious is instilled into most everyone, and the source is not always God. Most atheist's standard for deciding what is right and wrong is whether the action hurts anyone. This is taught in school through punishments for hitting or stealing, or whatever, and is also taught by a person's parent(s) sometimes, as well.

Right from wrong is a matter of perception. I live by morals. Mainly, I try not to do something to someone I wouldn't want done to myself. I try not to infringe on others, in was I woulden't want done to myself. These things are an inherited need for society to survive. What god said is irrelevant in this.
Not everyone follow don't steal, otherwise my house wouldn't get burglarized from time to time.

Do you really need a god to tell you killing another human or taking the property of another is bad? The known retaliatory actions of the loved ones of the dead person or the owner of the property should give you a clue.

There was law and order before the "10 commandments," or didn't you realize that? For example, even from a biblical perspective, was young Abraham in mortal danger of being killed or raped every day? I don't think so.

Quite simply, truth is that which, when you stop believing in it doesn't go away.

And honey, watch dogs and chimps - they know that it's wrong to kill and steal. We humans know the same way they know. It's human nature to respect life. We wouldn't continue as a species if we didn't.

It is not difficult to figure out that negative actions bring negative repercussions.

We don't need Gods to help us figure this out.

I'm in law school and I've noticed a lot of the laws we follow are from the bible.

I've done DEEP research in criminal law and it's roots (laws) are from the bible.

without God..we wouldn't know. put 50 people in a room and then tell them that we have no laws to abide by. see what happens next. i promise you it would be illegal.
