Most of what is in the Bible is anecdotal or designed to teach a lesson, kind of like Aesop's Fables.

Modern Fundamentalist Christians have taken the writings to all be literal and therefore believe them, quite erroneously, to be fact and historical documentation. It isn't, really.

To be sure, there are some historical accounts in there, but sorting through them all and determining what is anecdotal and what is historical is a job best suited to biblical scholars and archaeologists.
Not televangelists, as has been the norm of late.

You might want to clarify your question. the 'bible' is different depending upon which religion you believe in. Certain faiths use bibles that contain more chapters than others. Some books are written differently, and some are changed completely. What type of accuracy are you expecting?? What would determine which documents are correct or not? The bible was written by man as an interpretation of god's words...

No, I do not believe that the Bible is 100% accurate. Firstly, none of the Bible was written by Jesus or even during his lifetime by anyone who knew him.

Secondly, the Bible has been translated to and from different languages numerous times, so some meaning has inevitably been lost. Also, some of the early Christian writings, the Apocrypha, were omitted from the Bible. How are we to know what (if anything) is accurate or not?

100% no, because the bible was written down by man. I'm an atheist here descended from a long line of atheists, and we have been a pretty darn happy, successful, moral, and intelligent bunch. Sorry to burst your bubble, bible-lovers, but I can enjoy my life without guilt of all the "sins" I have committed, and I don't do good deeds because some scary powerful being that exists everywhere wants me to. I do then because I think they are nice things to do, and I feel great as a person, not as a worthy servant of God.

this question comes up about every other day,
OK, if Gods word is not 100% true then it is fiction.
if His word is False then he is False.
if you beleive in God then you must beleive he has enough power to keep his word true. you must beleive that he has more power than the man who holds it. if man can corrupt Gods word then God has no power at all.
I believe His word is 100% true and continue challenge anyone to prove it other wise

Considering it was language spoken to a vastly different people than us here in the "modern" world, and considering no one has ever proven it wrong, and considering its mechanics and coherence are spot on in direct relation to the idiomatic construction of its narratives and history, I'd say yes-yes indeed.

No more than I do the Iliad, the Odyssey, the Aeneid, the Poetic Eddas, or the various Vedas of Hinduism.

Personally, I think that your question doesn't make any sense. In what way do you want to know if it is accurate? An accurate translation of the originals?
