Does anybody know approx. what time recruits get their mail? Is it near the evening or in the morning?

10 mins before taps (2200 or 10 oclock)

don;t waste the money on overnight or express mail. just becuase it arrives at Great Lakes quicker does NOT mean it will be sorted any faster. Mail call is not necessarily every day and besides he won't have much free time except on Sundays to write back anyway.

In Army basic we got it at night, right before personal time. I can't imagine it being much different in the Navy.

It was toward the evening back when I was in Navy RTC-- in 1988.

i know when i was in Basic in the Army we had mailcall every evening but it all depends on the unit they are in its diferent for each one the company that was next to me did it in the morning duing their moning breif so like i said it all depends

It's at night, and tell your friends and family not to send food. My Company Commander always took my food.

normally you get the mail in the evening. right after dinner.
