Male cats roam a LOT. They may be gone a day, sometimes a week. He didn't 'run away', he's 'cattin' around'. It can be distressing for you to wonder about your cat... WHEN he'll come home and IF he'll be injured when he does. The best way to get a male cat to stop roaming is to get him neutered ASAP. It will be healthier for him, keep him from getting into cat fights, and possibly curb his spraying some, too. The sooner, the better. Seven months is plenty old enough to get this done. Otherwise, he'll keep cattin' around, and mating season will be the worst, for that's when the males try to show who's the 'big cat'. A prayer wouldn't hurt either. But try not to worry so much, they know where home is. :) Maybe try to encourage him by calling him some, diferent times of the day. Good luck to you and your new kitty.

You will be amazed at how smart cats are, my cat ran away for a week I was so depressed thinking about him and how much I missed him when all of the sudden I hear the familiar "meow" at the back door. There he was kind of skinny and dirty but safe.

That's right, put his used litter outside to help him find home.
Put out a sign that says "Lost cat" so if the neighbors see him they will tell you.
There is lots more at www.aspca.org or www.hsus.org.
He's pretty young and may well be lost and will need help.
If/when he comes back, for heavens' sake, get him neutered.

yes, he'll most likely come back when he's hungry. but for the love of kittens, get him FIXED. he's responding to this other cat in heat, and there don't need to be more kittens in shelters in this world.

He'll come back, it is his territory and he has marked it all over the place at your house, don't worry he'll come back.
