Of the Apocrypha?

Before you say Martin Luther is right, remember that ALL scripture is under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, if the Bible is taken literally.

BTW, I am a Christian, I'm just willing to admit the Bible is not inerrant.

Nina, way to not answer the question. Which version is right, the Catholic Bible or the Protestant Bible?

And yes, I know what the Apocrypha is. Are you Caltholic, BTW? Your response would seem to indicate so.

So far, everyone has side-stepped the question, except one, and one who is not Christian.

Boy, I'm not an atheist. Try reading the details.

Yes, it does beg the question what is scripture and what is not. The point is, if there is dispute, and only can be right, then it is not inerrant. If it is man's mistake, then the Bible can be messed with, right?

HG, I believe that Christ is the Redeemer sent from God, so how am I not a Christian?

2007-12-30 12:07:02 · update #4

Ummm...Need, it is the Catholic church who decided what was canon. I can't believe how many of you are ignorant of the history.

2007-12-30 12:08:30 · update #5

MG, so God didn't have control of the writers of the Apocrypha, or what the Catholic church deemed to be canon?

2007-12-30 12:10:07 · update #6

Me, I didn't say the Bible is not the Word of God, I said it is not without errors.

2007-12-30 12:11:55 · update #7

Everyone who is saying it is the fault of man, do you not realize that you are saying the Bible is not inerrant?

2007-12-30 12:12:47 · update #8

MG, I pray that you get a clue.

2007-12-30 12:16:19 · update #9

Thank you, St. Boniface, same to you, and everyone else...Happy New Year.

2007-12-30 12:17:50 · update #10

MG, it has nothing to do with being accepted by the world. I care not whether I am accepted by the world. It has to do with common sense. As some have admitted here, it is the work of man that caused this. However, that is further proof that I am right when I say the Bible is not inerrant. They have admitted that the Bible has been messed with.

I think the correct word to use is infallible. The Bible is inerrant in the sense that everything written down was inspired by God. That does not mean, however, that it is infallible. The Bible does not always teach and there are many things in there which are no longer timeless and universal truths. We need an 'official' interpreter to interpret the Bible for us. That happens to be the Catholic Church which was appointed by Jesus Christ "to teach all nations."

Happy New Year to you too and may the good Lord bless you and keep you in the coming year.
Hav e blessed 2008!

Your skeptics site had way too much to address in this short space. I will address your question above though. God inspired different men to write the holy scriptures. The differences in the Catholic Bible and Protestant Bible are insignificant. All Christians accept the Bible by faith. The God of the universe is able to get truth across to all people who choose to come to Him and learn from Him, whether they use a Catholic Bible or Protestant. God sends us a Helper -- the Holy Spirit -- who actually imparts to our spirits Biblical truth. Even if there is a discrepancy or mis-translation, God is able to teach anybody who seeks Him through His Word. The Bible was spiritually written, and there-fore is spiritually discerned -- with our Helper. God is not worried about insignificant differences. What really matters is coming to know Him in a really personal way. When I first picked up the Bible (Catholic New Testament) Jesus came to life in those pages -- and I loved Him and felt I knew Him personally, same as I know my own family members. I got a real revelation of the love of Jesus and it was a totally radical life-changing experience.

You admit this because of either your limited knowledge of the Bible or that you don't know the power of God.
The Apocrypha is not included in the holy canon for the same reason because it does not totally conform to the inerrant Bible. If included, it may make the Bible errant

The Bible is inerrant.

What does inerrant mean? You can't just say God is fake. Where is the proof. For the atheists out there. Try praying, thanking, repenting, and BELIEVING God. If not, try it for a week. You'll feel the difference, I did.

I do not mean your an atheist. I am a Christian and God bless you. He has a purpose. Me reading this article, God gave you a purpose to write this. He uses you. I was BORN a christian. Then I doubted. I woke up from a nightmare until I believe October, I was saved. And Catholic is a way to make money. Even Martin Luther said it.

what parts do you think are not true. people like this tend to pick and mix scripture.

The 66 books of the bible are under the inspiration of God, there are other books that have good teaching that are not under the inspiration of God like general helpful advice from the apostles for example.

its ere all the books that were given to man by God.

So, the books outside of the 66 can be used for good reading and learning but are not necessarily completely under the direction of God but by the limited wisdom of man.

i think its a requirement for a Christian to believe in the bible 100%, to not believe in it 100% usually results in you rejecting things that stifle your lifestyle, things that convict you etc. but i wont comment on whether your Christian or not because that is between you and God but remember many are called but few are chosen.

God's Word is enduring (1 Pet. 1:23), eternal (Mt. 24:35), flawless (2 Sam. 22:31; Psa. 18:30) and pure (Psa. 12:6). Regarding its purity, we read:

"And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times" (Psa. 12:6).

if you cant trust what the Lord says you cant be one of his, so now its up to you to decide whether your a Christian or not. there is no in-between, you can a fundy and be hated by the world or a lost sole that is accepted by the world?

Do you even know what is Apocrypha?

God does not err, people make mistakes.

It is a good thing to admit that you do not know everything.

Edit: I do not complicate things. I like NIV study Bible the best, but I love to listen the Message bible. I have several different translations. Stay away from NWT and Mormon's bible. The main thing for you to believe is John 3:16.

So, you are asking if the Protestant Bible is true, because there exists a few books that are disputable? All scripture is inspired, but what is scripture? I believe you are begging the question.

Do you think if I were to write a fictional book for the Bible that it would be included? Of course not. Neither were the other fictional books, just the ones that were true.

God didn't write the Bible, he wasn't the one who made alterations, choose which scriptures to destroy or keep, or inspire every word contained in the Bible....

YOUR NOT A CHRISTIAN

If a House divided against itself cannot stand

And i will tell you

THERE IS NO ERRORS in the WORD OF GOD
NOR ARE THERE ANY CONTRADICTIONS

and for one to say there is
and then i say" i'm a christian"
is a LIAR

Cause just by saying what you said
YOU CALL GOD a LIE

FOR HE HIMSELF SAID
""IT IS GIVEN BY INSPIRATION OF THE HOLY GHOST(GODS SPIRIT)""
AND JESUS SAID AND IS THE ""LIVING WORD""
AND HE KNOWING WHO HE IS..............HOW THEN CAN YOU SAY WHOM YOU DONT KNOW...IT IS AN ERROR ??

then claim yourself to be Christian !!

I call you a LIAR
Like your Father
