No one can confirm that the bible is the word of God. All we can know for sure is the way the bible was put together. I mean, come on, Noah is the most holy man that God can find so God kills/drowns everyone else on the planet and when Noah gets off the ark he is SO holy that he gets drunk? Yeah, that happened. And virgin births were all the rage back then. Let's see...Siddhartha (Buddha), Horus (also born in a stable...wow), Adonis and many more. We don't even know the true authors of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The books of the bible were written to the communities that the authors lived in. For instance if you look at the oldest book in the New Testament-Mark-there is no mention of the resurrection of Jesus. When the women went back to visit the tomb, they are simply told that no one is in it. The original writings in the book of Mark end with: "And they were terrified". Nine verses were added later to "fill in" the story of the resurrection. So the book has been manipulated, changed and rewritten to suit the leaders of the early church and their "vision" of what God and Christ "want". (Like God has needs)...but that's another topic altogether.

Actually confirming that the words in the Bible are the words of God is quite impossible. Atleast in the historical sense of the word.
The books of the bible are a small collection of writings written by man, throughout a great deal of history. Then centuries later, other men decided that they would get together these writings and decide which of these to include in the Bible.
The "words" in the Bible aren't even claimed to be the "words" of God. The Bible is the Word of God. Which means that even though you can't prove the individual meanings of every last detail, the overall meaning and sense of the Bible can be taken as Gospel.

Many other religion use some of the scriptures in their religion as well as there's a lot of evidence around the world that confirm some of the writing in the Bible. But for the most part you must have faith and trust the Holy Spirit that what you have read is actually true.

Ah another question in the anti faith vein, specifically the anti-Christian vein. You are absolutely correct, no can prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that the writings in the bible are the words of God. But in turn I ask you this, 'how can you in turn confirm to me or anyone else that they are not'. Ah the conundrum, you can't and I can't. I guess it's a matter of each individuals choice and faith. Is that so wrong? Is it so important to you to put someone down because he/she has faith in something that you don't? I think not, it's merely petty and vindictive. Ya'll have a happy new year now and I go away with my own beliefs intact.

Do you really want to know if the Bible is the word of God? Go to a gospel and follow this time-tested method for uncovering the mystery of the Word of God: "the child of God (that's me) takes the Word of God (the Scriptures) into the presence of God (prayer) and lets the Holy Spirit of God (the Author) make that Word come to life for me and, more importantly, in me."
I guarantee you God will speak to you through the pages of the Bible.

God gave the prophets the ability to perform miracles. God protects His Word. Jesus confirmed the Old Testament, and the Old Testament is the same as at the time of Jesus Christ. God also promised the New Testament.

the bible is full of knowledge about the universe that ancient man could never have known if it had not been divinely revealed.
such as the sky having a lid on it and outer space being full of water (genesis 1:6-10).

I can tell you how I confirmed it isn't...If a person believes that God is perfect and all knowing. Then a book written by a perfect all knowing being should also be perfect and all knowing. It isn't.

You cant. Dont waste your life wondering. You will never know. Never. Some people say they know and that they are sure but its not true. No-one knows for sure. Concentrate on the people in the world who you know for a fact are real. That way at least if there is a God he will be pleased that you were kind to people./
