This is the old first cause argument. The thing is that if the origin of life and universe must have a first cause why must it be a supernatural deity? It could be some natural explanation we don't know yet. If God is the first cause where did God come from? Who created God? Here religious people will say, "well, God doesn't need a creator, God always was." You are now just opting out of your own argument for logic in belief. The truth is we don't have any idea..it could be a completely natural explanation just like it has turned out to be for so many things we previously thought were caused by Gods and have since come to understand as natural phenomenon. I do appreciate your friendly appeal though. Best wishes to you.

I heard it with an open mind. All I have to say to that is if there was nothing then how did God come from "No thing"? We came from billions of years of evolution. The universe is what always was. The answer to why and how we are here is clear when a baby develops and is born. We breathe water for 9 months. We are all different colours and we have a plethora of environments. This is not the work of "No thing". It is the work of billions of years of many things.
Peace to you.

Thanks for the URL's. I watched both videos back to back.

I have to say that Dr Bilal Philips appears to be a smart fellow and I am sure with his speech he could convince a lot of people that God exists. But..

1. He was wrong when he said that everything has to be created by something and that something as complex as human must be created by an intelligent designer. That's a naive assumption supported and boundaried by daily observations only. Forces of nature are simple but they are powerful and abundant. And with the time they had (billions of years) they don't require a creator. Intelligence is not the only thing that could create something from nothing. Nature creates and sustains lives out of its simple forces.

2. He mentioned Plato and Socrates as masters of logic that concluded there had to be God. Well, Plato and Socrates lived in the age when science had not provided enough data for them to conclude otherwise. Nietzsche and Heidegger were also masters of logic. They lived in modern time with support of scientific data. Guess what? They concluded that there was no God. And there are many other modern philosophers that say God cannot logically exist. Why didn't Dr Philips pick these atheistic modern philosophers instead? Plato was wrong. Sorry.

3. Evolution happens by chance but the way it happens is far different from Dr Philips's analogy of atomic explosion in junk yard creating rolls royce. That analogy was totally out of sync. Evolution happens thru mutation and adaption for survival against stresses on organic species. That's how camel developed their features to survive harsh desert lives. Metals, rubber, and plastics in junk yard are not building materials that could evolve on earth because of their physical attributes. It is either he does not understand the mechanism of evolution itself or he rejects it as it conflicts with his faith.

There were other things Dr Philips was wrong about. But I think these three are enough for this forum. Nevertheless, I loved his presentation skills and good sense of humor. But, still, he was wrong. Sorry. :)

Why does he not take his idea to its logical conclusion?

Common sense tells me that to claim god created everything only poses the question 'what created god?' God, by definition, is the most complex being in the universe. Therefore, using this guys logic, god must have an even greater, more intelligent creator. If god is exempt from having a creator, then why are his creations, who are less complex, not exempt? By positing god, you are left defending an infinite regress of creators. Occams Razor deftly slices god from the equation.

You silly Muslims - 1500 years ago you guys were ahead of the times. Now you really are lagging - This argument and its refutation is as old as your religion.

i do no longer certainly evaluate myself area of any celebration. i know what celebration i do no longer belong to (Republican) yet I certainly have an opinion on each and every difficulty and that they do no longer constantly carry on with celebration strains. I certainly have a pair ideals that carry on with conservative strains, some that carry on with liberal. the acquaintances I certainly have who've the closest time table to me are libertarian yet i'm definitely no longer that trusting in human beings to no longer smash each and every little thing there the two. we want rules in some places and don't desire them in others. we want freedom to be sure alternatives yet I confident as hell do no longer believe anybody to no longer make the egocentric decision that's no longer achievable for many human beings. and then it ought to to boot be an anarchy. And in case you heavily think of anarchy is splendid then you definately have not left the living house to fulfill the scum that populate this earth. So jointly as I certainly have a situation determining on who to vote for using fact no person has my appropriate values in concepts, i know who i'm no longer balloting for and in that know balloting against. Sans-you could call me pessismistic yet then you definately needless to say have not considered human nature. you're speaking some international and a rustic who likes to video show actuality shows and pray to an invisible guy interior the sky with blind faith. human beings could be swayed so genuinely. while there are no longer any regulations that's the main effective that proceed to exist and don't you think of for a 2nd that they gained't walk over you to get what they choose. There are quite some rules now and that's no longer battling mass homicide, riots and gangs. take a glance at history and tell me what happens while human beings can not be punished for misdeeds and be made to make confident there's a point enjoying field.

The movie starts with:

"In the Qu'ran we find a purely logical argument".

So I stopped listening there.

One does not find logic in any scripture, even those of my religion.

PS: I've never known an atheist to wear the burka. You're a pitiful liar.

When something like this is asked by something that chose a scarfed female as an avatar and chooses 'seeking truth and I found it ' as a name, I KNOW "To my fellow atheists" is a hook to get me in.

I don't fall for BS.
Don't be concerned; I know there are plenty of mindless peasants out there who will be sucked in by your beliefs.
Many have blown themselves and other innocents up trying to convince us that your religion is one of peace.

I don't follow orders, so I'm using the "Oh it's way too long" excuse. "Worth hearing" is a subjective term, sort of like trying to convince my mother Back In Black from AC/DC is worth hearing to her 84 year old ears.

Your fault, not mine.
