Was Jonah literally in the belly of a whale?
Did God part the Reed Sea? (its actually reed sea, don't worry about that in this question).
Was Adam the first man?
Did King David reign as king in Israel for about 40 years?
Was Jesus born in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago?

Such particular questions are not as important in this general question, but what is the degree of accuracy of the Bible?

There are some verses in the Bible that if true, then the whole Bible must be true.

Everything in the Bible is true. It's all in the translations from the original and in how one interprets the verses.

1. Actually, the Scriptures say "fish" not whale.
2. In Hebrew, it is "sûph" Probably of Egyptian origin; a reed, especially the papyrus: - flag. Red [sea], weed. This does not diminish what God did. Are you aware they have found Egyptian chariots at the the bottom of the "Red" sea, from that time period? (http://bibleprobe.com/)
3. Yes. Unless you have Biblical evidence to prove otherwise.
4. Actually, 40 years and six months. (2 Sam. 5:5) Jewish writers almost always removed fractions of years from datings.
5. The exact year of His birth is questionable. Could be 1 AD, or 2, of 3, etc.. 2000 years or more is pretty close.

The bible can only be true to people who believe it is. To a sceptic, the bible is a collection of old stories designed to explain the unexplainable. It defies logic. For example: Adam was the first man, Eve the first woman. They have two children, Cain (the world's first murderer) and Able, both of whom are male. Who did they marry and breed with? Where did these ' other women ' come from. Doesn't figure. The list of biblical inconsistencies goes on and on. This doesn't mean that the bible is wrong, it just means that you shouldn't take it all too literally. Of course, theological reasoning argues like this. The bible is the word of God and must be true. We know this because it says so in the bible. Hmmmm...... what can I say to that line of thought. Anyway believe what you will, an open mind is always better than a closed one. Happy New year to you..

The whole bible is true. Everything that is written in the bible already happened and then there are some that is happening now. Every answer that needs to be known to any situation could be found in the bible. The Iraq war and the killing of Sadaam is in the Bible. Many people dont look deeply at the scriptures where many answers lie. Also in the hebrew language of the bible, many propheties can be found. It contains Princess Diana's death such as the year, 911 attack, and president Bush's election. The Bible was written by godly men that basically wrote everything that God told them to write so there is no way that it is not accurate. If someone was to write something inaccurate in God's word then God probably would have struck that person dead.

Yes the Bible is accurate. Absolutely.
Jonah was in the belly of a great fish.
No, its the Red Sea- gulf of Aqaba near Dahab. They went into Saudi Arabia-not into the Sinai Peninsula- on that crossing.

Yes, either the Bible is accurate or its a false document.

I believe in the literal truth of the Bible. We do not have to believe everything in the Bible to be saved. John 3:16 is the minimum. We need to believe Jesus is our Savior God and He will save us when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior.

Yes, I believe Jonah was in the belly of the whale because Jesus mentioned it.

Yes, I believe in the parting sea.

Yes, Adam was the first man. But God said that He made the mankind so at least Adam is the first mentioned by name.

I believe the Bible is accurate.

100% accurate~ And yes, Moses parted the Red Sea ~ Of course it was the Lord who actually parted the Red sea, using Moses~

In Matthew 12:40, Jesus tells us the fish is a whale~
*For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.*

alot of the history in the bible is accurate although alot is exagerated. common sense should tell you that. some would have you to be blinded by 'faith' and if that makes you feel like you are going to heaven more power to you.
doing whats moral and right is what is important; not the stories in some book.

It is 100% accurate that is why it is called a Bible. The only thing that is inaccurate is how it is interpreted. So many readers have so many interpretations of the same passage.
