I bought a pair of RainbowLens color cosmetic lens. They came in 2 seperate packs (1 eye contact in each) with a little (about a teaspoon) full of Solution. And since I have 2 little sisters who are very touchy, the solution wasted. So I filled the things with water and put the contacts back in there until I wear them again so they won`t dry out. Water`s been in the thing for about a day and a half now. Is this safe? Will the water instead of solution cause any problems? Will they completely ruin the lens? HELLLPPP!

I don't believe that it should ruin your lenses, but do NOT put the contacts in your eyes until you disinfect them. You should be able to use clear care and disinfect them, but make sure you read the directions on the bottle if you don't use it. There are certain things in the water that can do really bad things to your eyes (for example, you could get an infection from acanthamoeba, which is really bad). If they are disposable, I would probably just throw them away.

Won't ruin your lenses but could ruin your eyes. Storing in water means the lenses have not been disinfected and could be growing bacteria, fungi or amoeba which can cause potentially blinding eye infections.

Where did you buy your lenses? The vendor should have instructed you in their care and provided a sample of lens care solution and a storage case.

You could sue the vendor for exposing your eyes to the risk of disease. Return to the vendor and insist on proper instruction. If they don't provide it, lodge a formal complaint against them to their licensing body.

I agree with od 09. Only use a peroxide based solution as they have the best ability to kill the full spectrum of anything living on your lens. You can get a trial of clear care for like $6 @ wal mart. Or ask your eye doctor, usually they love giving free samples.

You shouldn't have even considered putting the lenses back into the same solution. Solution should be changed after every use.
