Well, I used a plain jane gun for over 20 years before I got a new one with camo........ and I harvested lots of gobblers with it. It's not so much the gun, but how much you need to move it when the bird's coming to you. If you have camo on it then you are going to get away with a little more movement without being seen. So it boils down to this.....if you don't need a new gun then stick with what you have....spend the $$ on a good choke.

No, we killed turkeys for years before there was ever such thing as a camo gun. We used Browning A-5's with a shiny finish on wood and metal, we just didn't know any better.
I do believe that it can help to have camo finish, but not enough to buy a new gun over. The last new shotgun I priced was $100 more for camo finish; I didn't bite, and bought the matte black instead. If I have to have camo, I can buy some of the removable vinyl tape like this: http://www.cabelas.com/prod-1/0026405416194a.shtml

Can't help you with the calls but the gun is a different story. In Turkey hunting you are looking for 1 good head shot. Do you really need a 3 shot semi-auto? I don't think so. I would just buy a break open single shot for less than $200.Why spend hundreds more if you don't have to? Pass shooting at Geese or Ducks is a different story then you need a little firepower.

You definatly DO NOT need a camo gun! it would be the best, but only by little. the only reason that you would need a camo gun, is if you planned on waiting for the turkey to get 5 yards from you. and plus what did people use before there were camo guns..........and they did just fine. so dont sweat it, you will do fine.

it's just a question of how much you want to "hedge your bet" as my grandfather used to say. I used a plain jane old wood stock blued shotgun for years and years for turkey hunting. Came a time when I decided to get a new shotgun to use for both turkey and duck hunting. I decided to go ahead and buy one with the fancy camo on it. Doesn't shoot any better, but with ducks, I seem to be getting more close in shots than before. Maybe just coincidence. Haven't noticed a difference on turkey, but I am sure that some feel that the added advantage helps.

I have used a black and Walnut Remington 870 Wingmaster for 15 years or more, with great results every season.

It hasn't been that long ago that there were no camo guns, and it never seemed to bother anybody.

No need for a camo shotgun.
Camo can help you get closer to your game. Maybe after you are comfortable with your turkey calls and cover techniques you can then think about getting closer. Give yourself a few years to gain experience.
