How can you tell which wall is an accent wall in a room?

I'm wanting to paint an accent wall but I can't figure out which wall that would be. What makes a wall an "accent" wall?

Sometimes it is the first one you see when you walk into the room. Sometimes it is the wall with a fireplace. Or the wall behind your bed. Or if the walls are pretty similar then you can decide which one.

Many people like to locate a focal point over the sofa or the head of the bed or baby's crib.

There have been times when I didn't want to draw attention to any one area, but I needed an accent wall to pull attention AWAY from an imperfect part of the room.
