NO !!
Bi-polar, depression, anxiety attacks, etc. etc. etc., are brain illnesses. Just like diabetes is an illness where the pancreas isn't working correctly, so are the so-called "mental" illnesses conditions where something in the brain is working incorrectly - usually the result of a chemical imbalance.
Demonic possession is totally something else. It's real, although not that common.
Don't worry!

A long time ago mental illness was explained as demon possession. However if the person believes him or herself to be actually possessed by demons, they are probably schizophrenic. Schizophrenia is a disease of the brain that has many symptoms, including hearing and seeing things that others don't, and having delusional beliefs that are sometimes paranoid in nature, demon possession being one example.

Not at all. Mental illness have nothing to do with demonic possession.
Just because someone suffers of any mental problem, doesn't mean that person is possessed.
If we were to judge people with medical conditions as devil possessed, we will have to consider the Apostle Paul was possessed as well, because he obviously suffered of Epilepsy.
After all, Paul did came up with some drastic ideas about Christianism, that were not entirely accepted by other Apostles. And nobody considered him to be possessed by any demon.

My family was worried about my niece being demon possessed until they found out she was bi-polar and learned what that meant. There is no indication that there is anything other than purely physical causes to mental illness.
To the best of my knowledge, there has not been a documented case of demon possession, at least not since we started to understand how our brains work.

Demons do not exist.. Mental illness is the result of chemical imbalances in the brain...
My opinion on bipolar disorder... It can be treated, it often takes quite a while to dial in the drugs needed to get a balance but stick with it.. People with Bi-polar disorder can lead normal lives as long as they stay on top of their meds and communicate well with their doctors regarding changes in feelings...
Keep a journal every day write down your feelings and your feelings about those feelings.. If you see a trend either manic or depressive starting immediately contact your dr. for a meds adjustment..
My younger sister is bi-polar she is able to lead a very normal life (Husband, 3 children, teaching job etc.) with few manic or depressive episodes.. She keeps a journal and her husband does as well.. Sometimes he sees the trend long before she does and is able to help her see it before it goes too far... If you have a spouse, boyfriend etc. living with you they can help monitor your reaction to the meds and will often see things you can't see because they are too close to you...

I think that to believe that demons exist at all is partly due to mental illness.
You are not possessed. You are mentally unhealthy, and require medicine to treat your condition. I hope that you pursue the medical route, rather than attempt to pray the illness away. The former will take you much farther than the latter.
Best to you.

Basically, Mental Illness is not Demon Possession.
But, a demon possessed person is Worse than having a mental illness.
Hope this helps.
There aren't Very Many Demon Possessed Humans in America.
The Light and Presence of GOD Flowing Through HIS People and into America Helps to Keep this from Happening.

No. Most mental illness are biological in order (depression is a physical illness, with other symptoms, for example); ofter a problem with the hormones and their relationship with the brain.

First, You can't be possessed by a demon if you are a Christian because your spirit is already inhabited by the Holy Spirit. Evil can't move in and kick Him out.
Being possessed is rare. Being influenced by demons can happen and does more often than we realize. Mental illness can be influenced by the devil. You should pray that God will intervene and deliver you from any evil that would cause you to be bi-polar.
I was delivered from depression by prayer, so I know it works.
