If you had broken his other leg, I'd think you were too hard on him. lol
He was probably getting bossy because he is in pain and miserable. It sounds like you love him very much so you could cater to him until he is feeling better, then you could break his other leg.

It depends on how dependent he is on you.
My brother broke his leg when he was 10. It was a bad break and he had a cast from his ankle to his waist. He depended on me and my parents for everything for about 2 months, until he was able to get around a bit.
If he is bedridden and cannot do anything for himself, shame on you for yelling at him.

If he is stuck in a cast in the house, he may be cranky and irritable, plus bored. Maybe you could be more thoughtful, especially if he needs some help, or just to be entertained for a while.
