Yes.
The Bible gives a clear answer to that question.

Ecclesiastes 9:5 says, "The living are conscious that they will die, but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten.:

Every one wonders but few of us really know. those who know because they were declared dead and came back. Some have beautiful experiences of love and light a place called heaven. Some talk about the horrors of heat and fire and being in darkness a place they called hell. What we hear about we either give it faith or become cynics about it and sum it to just experience a nightmare. I rather believe that God is real and follow the tenants of good moral behavior be honest with you and believe in Jesus and the Christian reality. Then take a foolish choice of not believing and end up in a hellish place here after.

Don Piper was clinically dead for 90 minutes and then he came back to life to tell his story about reaching the gates of Heaven and being able to see inside. He wrote a book about his experience in Heaven. It is called "90 Minutes in Heaven". It is a great read and it is available in most book stores. I am sure that you will enjoy it if you are curious about the after life.

I know what happens at least to us DURING the death process, because it happened to me in 1997. As you can see, though, I ended up being alive in the end. But I did die, and I do know what happens - or at least what happened to ME -- during the process itself of dying. Who knows if what I experienced is what others also experience? No idea.

This is what I understand from Islam

When a person dies, his body is buried, his soul goes up to heaven and will either float or be thrown down. Depending on the life and belief he followed.

He will be in the grave where he will be questioned by two angels about;

1. Who is your Lord?

2. What is your religion?

3. What do you say about this man? (He will be shown a picture of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)

Depending on the truthfulness of his answers and of course the life he led. He will either be punished or shown a window to paradise.

The soul will be told to rest and be resurrected in body on Judgement day. That's it! This will happen to everyone.

Many people have had 'near-death' experiences.
They all tell similar stories, in their own way.
Do some reading about such experiences.

You bet! Just read the Holy Scriptures and see what God's teaching says. If you really want to know, set down with your pastor and let him or her guide you through the teachings. Jesus takes care of His own.

Not until we ourselves die. It's silly to claim to know what happens at the point of death, and after death, when you haven't died, so you don't know.

We can see what happened to other people who died. They stopped moving, got cold and stiff, and if we didn't bury them, became rancid and stunk up the place.

Probably that will happen to us when it's our turn.

We can know somewhat, because the bible tells us that it is appointed for men once to die and then judgment. For the believer, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Other than that, I'll have to wait!
