I am considering getting a new amp with 7.1 surround and I was wondering about the ideal speaker placements.

I only have a small room. What is the ideal distance between the speakers? What is the minimum distance?

Thanks

a 7.1 system in a small room is most likely going to be overkill. 7.1 requires certain spacing that a small room may not be able to accomadate. try using 5.1 instead. you will be much happier with the sound stage and dynamics of your speakers

Do some research to get ideas for best placement which probably is the only way.

Check out www.hdtvorg.co.uk they have a speaker room setup section and it is a very good site for research.
