According to my vet (I asked her this question) dogs can eat small amounts of white meat turkey with no ill effects. They should not be given, dark meat, skin, fat or bones. My dog eats white meat turkey and has never gotten sick.

No, it's a rumor. Chocolate is horrible for dogs, but turkey is not. I feed it to my dog all the time. What do you think wild dogs caught in the wild when there was no other food? Wild turkey, and other things too. So go ahead and give your dog turkey--but whatever you do DON'T give your dog chicken, turkey, fish, or sheep bones. Get a cow bone or a Chew Toy instead. All the bad bones can splinter in the dog's stomach and cause great pain. Cow bones don't splinter.

That's totally not true. A lot of the premium high quality dog foods are made with Turkey. I feed my dogs 95% Turkey canned food made by Wellness and Merrick's "Thanksgiving day dinner" canned food and Merrick makes a dry food call "Turducken" which has both Turkey and Duck. I feed my dogs turkey that i eat and none have died yet or ever gotten sick from it.
Also "Canidae" makes food that is made with Turkey.

Don't feed your dog any table scraps because you will turning your dog into a beggar dog, and after a while he will stop eating his food, sit by the table and watch you eat until you cave in. Don't give him in canned food cause it's bad for his teeth (plaque, gingivitis), his stool will be soft and not formed (you'll have difficulty picking it up), he'll only want that after a while, even if you mix it in with the dry, he'll end up licking the wet food. Can food goes bad quicker so you can't leave out for a few hours. If you dont' feed him the entire can and just put the rest of it in the fridge, every day that you take it out bacteria will grow inside. you can't feed your dog the canned food straight from the fridge, it has to be room temperature, cause if it's too cold, he will have an upset stomach. Stick with the dry and only the dry, what he doesn't know (cans/scraps) he won't miss.

Turkey, no. But a friend of mine who's been a vet for 35 years tells me that hardly a holiday season goes by that he doesn't see at least one case of pancreatitus because the dog ate all the turkey skin, which is very fatty. This can often be fatal. Ask your vet. I tend to believe mine when he tells me stuff that keeps my dog out of the office! :)

This is absolutely not true. Turkey is a base ingredient of many fine commercial kibbles. I'm a raw feeder and raw turkey necks and wings in particular are some of my dogs' favorites.

Dogger & huck have it - let your dog clean every bit of the cooked off fat from a 20 turkey plus the skin on top (IE put the roaster pan on the floor "here boy") and yeah you could give then a fatal attack of panceritiis. Give them a little piece - no prob. Some dog foods are turkey based.

Never heard of that and my dogs all get left over Turkey. Now any poultry or other meat in fact will turn toxic if left out. So the rule of thumb on cooked meats is that if it is safe for you to eat it is safe for them.
Dogs do not need to eat pork, onions or chocolate.

If it's just plain turkey, though, unless your dog is allergic to it, shouldn't cause any health problems. In the U.S. some turkeys are pumped with chemicals and it may be those that are harmful to dogs.
