He still wont be insured even if you say he is test driving it!! Considering he is risking driving uninsured on the day the police are out specifically looking to pull people over to check for drink driving I would suggest it is pretty foolish to even try?

No that wont work hes not insured and cant use test drive as an excuse as im sure business get special insurances for test drives etc! just tell him if your not good enough to drive then tell him to take his car or put up with it! my partners like that thats why we both insured on both cars it saves arguments lol x

You'll be breaking the law and asking for serious trouble if you let him do that. The police will be out in force for New Year looking to pull people over for drunk driving. You could both lose your licences. It is a serious offence to drive without insurance and you could end up on probation. I worked in partnership with the probation service before I retired and I taught many people who were on probation for having no car insurance. Do you want a criminal record?

Tell him it's your car and if he don't like it to get the bus
You have to be insured even for a test drive, it won't work

Only let people who is insured on your policy drive your car (unless an emergency). If he drives and has an accident he may not be covered depending on your insurance company.

Wow. The answers are interesting . . .
Most policies(99.9%) have a Permissive Use provision that allows you to give anyone not living with you permission to use your car and the insurance will pay if there is a loss/accident. Also, your coverage will follow you if you drive a car that is not insured and not registered to you.

Do not try that on it is not worth getting caught for the sake of about £20 you can have your bf (and if he is suggesting that which you say he is, he is a bf) on your insurance for a week. Given that he will probably want a drink or three I think it is to his advantage for you to drive not having had a drink. The lad is a bf he has not thought it through

That won't work at all. It matters not whether you're in the car with him, he won't be insured. Both of you will be at risk from prosecution, him for driving without insurance and you for "permitting". The courts view insurance offences very seriously.

More importantly, there will be no insurance in place in the event of an accident.

Either you drive your car, he drives his car or both of you take a taxi.
