Opening the borders? Well I think it is a little late for America to be hypocrites now, especially since we have the Statue of Liberty sitting large and pretty as a gift to America for being so generous to immigrants. I think it's all ridiculous really. Maye the government should just come out and tell the truth as to WHY they don't want all these people coming here. It probably all has to do with homeland security and not wanting all these people coming here that hate us, trying to blow us up again.

Pro legal immigrant,all the illegals need to STEP-OFF and get deported.All this violence(shoot them),however is not necessary.Keep in mind that they are still human beings for goodness sakes.I do not agree with the open border concept either.Thats just like saying,"let's legalize hard drugs."

Legal immigrants are almost always great people. They're not a drain on society, they work, pay taxes, and so forth. Many of them, like someone not too far up answered, are even war vets.
Illegal immigrants are a cancerous drain on our society and economy. Bluntly, a mandatory 5 year prison sentence should be leveled on anybody who hires illegal immigrants. Per incident. Refuse health care for all illegal immigrants except minors. (And for minors, once they're treated, kick them and the parent(s) that brought them back to their native country.)
In a nutshell - I have nothing but respect for people who put in the effort to move to the states legally. But I'm also for the arming of the border. I'd like to see how many try to hop the river when there are 50 cal. machine gun emplacements 500 ft. this side of the border, with a short fence covered in warning signs.

I am a legal immigrant along with my wife and 2 stepsons.
I am also a Gulf War Veteran.
If anybody doesn't like it, oh well...get over it. We're here to stay.
I do oppose illegal immigration though due to the fact that my family had to pay thousands of dollars and wait 3 years to enter the country.
Yes to legal immigration.
No to illegal immigration.
Some Americans easily forget the humble beginnings of their ancestors not so long ago.

Immigrates are what helped build this country!
Probably if I could look back, far enough in my family tree, I would find immigrates!

Well, I am not advocating completely open borders. But I do think that we need to allow more legal immigration (in order to supply our economy with labor) and those who have come illegally should be treated in an appropriate manner.

As a taxpayer.... I would very much not like to have to adopt Mexico. No thanks.... close the border to ANY more immigration.
For every one Mexican granted citizenship......we should export one hundred illegal immigrants. The person being granted citizenship should have to do one thousand hours of community service to pay for the exportation of one hundred illegal immigrants.
I think that would help tremendously with the deportation expense.
