I am a Christian and have been for many years but I have also had a problem for many years-I have a sinful habit. I have asked for forgiveness a billion times but I find myself doing the same thing again and again. Recently I have decided to COMPLETELY (Without turning back) give the situation to God. Quit cold turkey in other words. But I am terrified-Does he still forgive me even though I've done it time and time again?

I know the He says that if your brother sins against you, asks you for forgiveness, and then does it again the next day that you should still forgive him. How many times? 70 times 7 (A lot in other words). But Hebrews 12:5-11 seems to say that after doing this too many times we will not be considered true children of God anymore--Has He forgiven me again or am I doomed?

A Christian with a habit is referred to as a "Nun".
Therefore: If a Christian wishes to be a "Nun" they must acquire a habit.

"Peace be always with you."

Once I experienced the boundless nature of God's forgiveness. It was almost a physical experience; it was as if the ceiling, the floor and the walls were moving away from me, I felt His forgiveness wash over me, forgiveness that was without boundary.

Paul said, the good he would do, he did not. The evil he would not do, he did. Remember that this is Paul, who wrote the books that became most of our new testament. Do we think we are greater than Paul in our ability to stop sinning?

There is no limit to the forgiveness of God, His mercies are new every morning. This doesn't give us license to sin. It means we can go to Him every day and ask, please help me, and He hears you. And if you stumble, He will forgive you.

The bible taught about forgiving 70 times 7 as an example; the example being, there should not be a limit. If God tells us to forgive without limit, how much more will a perfect, divine, loving, merciful God forgive us if we ask?

Why do you think of it in terms of sin? The idea of sin was imposed on people by priests as a form of control, as tyranical parents and loveless teachers control children through fear. If something you do bugs you, it is up to you to accept it or sort it out with the help of sympathetic friends or councellors. There is no such thing as 'sin', only actions with consequences, and you decide how to accept and deal with the consquences.

The way to show true repentence with a sincere heart is to stop the sinful behavior. You may need to pray for help and guidance for God's help in this - he knows when we are sincerely trying. Remember too - that what counts is who we are TODAY and what we do NOW...the past is just that. Best wishes to you for your strong will to over-come and kick the habit for good :-)

He will forgive you again and again as many times as it takes for you to make the change, as long as you are still alive. If you haven't worked it all out by the time you die, then you are doomed.

I have a feeling it's porn and you just have to convince yourself the harm is worse than the gain.
get a filter, get an accountability friend, get counseling.. you are no lost to God ... don't even go there because the liar wants you to think that, and don't let him do it.
You are a child of God, loved, alive in Christ, forgiven and in an unshakable kingdom.
Who did Jesus die for?

If you have a sinful habit that has become habitual then you need to seek the counsel of your minister or someone you respect and know who is really a strong Christian, because what seems to be going on is that you have a stronghold in your life and you need to be delivered from it.
Please go and check out my Yahoo 360 page, you can find it in my profile. I have a blog written there on this very subject. The title of the blog is "Shhh..." I think it will help you. If it does, let me know.

Most of us have some type of sinful habit in our lives, me included. However, I do believe that God has forgiven me because of the faith I have in Christ. I believe that the sin itself is a way for satan to draw us away from God and a way for satan to harden our hearts so that we don't let the Lord heal us. I pray daily for God to keep the evil one from dwelling in my house and through this prayer is the only way that I can defeat sin itself.
