toetagme: That's not unusual. The same thing happened to a lady in my town, she burglarized a pharmacy and an elderly couple for prescript drugs and went straight to rehab, so if you're implying Bush's daughter got off easy, you are mistaken.

To answer the question, sometimes lawyers can cut deals where time served, rehab, community service, or probation can be used instead of actual jail time. Depends on the crime committed and the state laws.

It depends on what crime was commited. Some places will allow you to do community service hours. Some will also allow you to take classes to learn why not to drink and drive and others will forego jail time if you go to rehab. This is something your attorney will have to work out before you go to court.

Yes, however that depends on the nature of the crime that was committed and the charges against you. It also depends on your prior criminal history if you have one. The best route to go is to hire a good lawyer, someone who can get you what you want.

No one can answer your question because there isn't enough information. However it's possible.

Any answers above that say consult an attorney is probably sound advice. A lawyer should be able to get you out of jail time. I am in a similiar situation. Ask me any questions you have.

An attorney should be able to work a deal if you qualify. Maybe under a first offender plea deal or something.
