I just got a dog. The breeder wants it back but I love it to death, and I'm pretty sure she loves me because she follows me around, sleeps on my back and everything! What do i do??!!??

The puppy follows me around** lol
Yes I payed for her and the breeder wants her back because she misses the puppy. The message she's trying to put across is that she is emotionally stressed because of the missing dog. She has other dogs and i only got the puppy yesterday!

AND the dog is really happy with me. We already have one of her dogs and have had her for about 4 years. She knows the other dog is happy and they interact well and she knows that because she's seen that. She calls and we do have caller id.

if you already paid for the dog(hope you have proof) than she has no right to the dog, I wouldn't give the dog back. Is this the WHOLE story though?

My husband and I adopted a wheaten terrier several months ago form the owner with the understanding the WE could return the dog if we had reservations (we had just lost our wheaten mix of 17 yrs). Of course we fell in love. However, about 4 days later a family member called because she realized she wanted the dog back. We explain that the dog was VERY HAPPY and we were VERY HAPPY. We also explained that we had brought her to the vet (to let them know that she was being well taken care of and that we were invested emotionally and financially) and she got a clean bill of health. We also explained that the dog was getting LOTS of attention because someone was always home with her. It was a difficult conversation, but I have NO reservations. Previously the dog was always kenneled and had lost 7 lbs in 5 months. Today she is rarely kenneled, rides in the car on errands every day that the weather permits and gets to go to the dog park 4-5 times a week. WE LOVE HER! THE DOG IS YOURS UNLESS IT WAS EXPLAINED IN THE BEGINNING THAT THE BREEDER HAD THE PEROGATIVE TO CHANGE HER/HIS MIND. GOOD LUCK!

Does the breeder want the dog back because of something possibly being wrong with the dog or some other reason?
You might be wise to take you dog to a VET you know and trust. Explain the situation to your VET and have him or her give the dog a complete physical is see if there is something bad wrong the breeder did not tell you about.
Then you can take it from there.

I agree with Maggy Y. You paid for the dog, so the dog is legally yours. Obviously, the breeder doesn't understand this. Make it clear to them in no uncertain terms that the dog is legally yours now, and that if they keep harassing you about it, you will go to the proper authorities. If the dog is a purebred, then you should have received papers along with the dog when you bought it. When you bought the dog, you should have received a "Bill of Sale", whether the dog is a purebred or not. If the dog is purebred and you didn't get any papers, report it to your local S.P.C.A. as soon as possible.

This sounds like a scam to try and get more money out of you/your folks...Be VERY careful...If you have a receipt showing you paid for the dog, then the dog is yours, feel free to offer to SELL the puppy back for a million dollars (in cash). If the breeder did NOT give you a receipt, you might want to let the tax office know...

No, no, no, no,no!! That breeder has NO right to take back the dog. Did you pay for her? Did you get her papers? Why does the breeder want her back? There is no way in the name of the constitution that that breeder has a right to take back YOUR dog!!! How do you know that she wants her back? Has she called? Emailed? Come to your house? If you have caller ID and shes been calling, don't answer. If she e-mails you about it, don't respond. If she comes to your house, get an adult involved (unless you are an adult) That breeder has no right to do these things, because if you payed for her, she is legally your dog. Don't give in and give back YOUR dog!!! Good luck =)

Save all your paperwork ! receipt for the pup, copy of registration papers, copy of check used to pay for the pup.vet bills etc. and copy every e-mail and don't erase the caller ID.If she comes by don't leave the pup unattended with her.Put it in another room until she leaves and if this pup ever turns up missing her house is the first place I'd look for it.
She says she misses the pup but I think there's a little more involved here.
She probably got a better offer for the pup than what she sold it to you for or she needs to use it for breeding. Her loss.
If she begs you to breed the dog in the future for a pup don't do it.

You should just try to aviod the subject when talking to the breeder. If they gave forms, or adoption slips, you shouldn't have to give it back! If it goes waaay way too far, I might take it to court. But I don't think it should go that far. If you have the money, you could always try paying them extra. It's not your fault AT ALL, so dont think it is. It's their fault for putting the dog up for sale. There should be a super, duper, hugely good reason for why they want it back. If it's something as small as "Oh I didn't mean to sell it blah...blah...blah...." then you don't have to give it back. Good luck!!!

well first off if you said no she can not have the puppy back she should not be coming to get the puppy, second i would let her know she will have to take you to court to get the dog back. I would NOT let her leave with the puppy. Chances are she/he is not going to want to pay the court costs and deal with it, in the mean time i would look for all paperwork you were givin on the puppy and anything that you paid for..etc. vet bills.

Unless you're not caring for the dog properly, it sounds like the breeder is a little off her rocker. I'm sure she misses the puppy, but if the puppy is happy, healthy, and paid for, the dog is YOURS. Period.

if you bought the dog then tough ****. why does the breeder want it back anyway? did he/she give you the wrong dog or something? if it's an honest mistake i would explain the situation that the dog is happy and settled and you want to keep it. if you have bought the do then legally it belongs to you. the only reason i would want a puppy back is if i knew that the person i sold it to was mistreating it in some way.
she misses it????? are you serious? she misses it?? tough ****...if she liked it that much she shouldn't have sold it to you. keep the dog.
