I'm Cajun and not part black. The Cajuns descended from the French in Canada. They were called the Acadians and it was eventually shortened to Cajuns. There are some Cajuns who are black, but not all Cajuns are black, usually they consider themselves Creole. 2D

Cajun is a corruption of the word Acadian, referring to people from Acadia, an area that included the Maritime Provinces of Canada and parts of New England originally settled by the French. The French were forcibly deported by the British, and some of them ended up in Louisiana, where they became "Cajuns." A pure Cajun is therefore French. However, there was of course some intermarriage and some of today's Louisiana Cajuns may have black blood.

Cajun refers to the acadian (formerly canadian - and of French language, if not pure french extraction) people who migrated to the Louisiana gulf area in something like the 1700s.
Doesn't actually refer to anything to do with African heritage, that would come from some other part of the family.
