I know as a Christian I should be preparing and excited for Christ's second coming, but I am scared to death! I want to live out my life, get a college education, get married and have a family! I don't want the world over now!

What can I do to calm down? My mom always tells me nothing will probably happen because when she was growing up in the 60's and 70's people were obsessing over the world ending and we're still here aren't we?

don't worry about the "end of the world". Christ wants you to live your life in the present moment-for only in the present moment will you find his presence in your life! Live your life day by day, seeking God's will first and foremost, praying, reading the Bible, loving others, going to school, etc. We should all be ready for our own "end of the world", the day we die, by always trying our best to avoid sin. We must be prayerful and he gives us grace for following God's commandments.

Hey Beachboard, do not worry about it. Trust that the Lord knows what is best for all of us. He may not return in your life time, but if He does (and you are truly a Christian) you should realize that it will be the best thing that could ever happen to you. Do not worry about it, but live each day in accordance with His will. Surrender to what His will is for your life then trust and obey Him, in and for all things.

The answers you are getting prove what Peter said in 2 Peter 3:3-5 "Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, and saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep. all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant ..."

Any way beachboard don't worry just trust Him

'Why are you afraid if your a Christian you should be looking forward to being with the Lord .We don't know the day or the hour but when He calls us that is still not the end . When Israel became a nation again after 2500 yrs that's when it all started . the rapture could not happen before that . There are warning signs that tell us what to look for and they are happening .. ..This is not the 2nd coming its Christ calling out the believers to Himself at the 2nd coming His feet will touch the earth and that will be at the time of Armageddon

The bible makes abundantly clear that Jesus will return & "the end" will come within the lifetime of the the New Testament authors (see verses below)...So either you missed him, or He ain't coming !

"Waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ ... that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ." -- 1 Corinthians 1:7-8

"But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none." -- 1 Corinthians 7:29

"That ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. -- Philippians 1:10

"Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." -- 1 Thessalonians 4:17

"I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." -- 1 Thessalonians 5:23

"Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son...." -- Hebrews 1:2

"But now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself." -- Hebrews 9:26

"Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you." -- 1 Peter 1:20

"But the end of all things is at hand." -- 1 Peter 4:7

"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time." -- 1 John 2:18

When Jesus returns the Church will be caught up in the air then the horrors of Revelations will start. As a christian rather than stay and have a life you'd rather be with Christ. You know what good advice is......if Jesus returns 2010 what good does it profit you if you died tomorrow? Rejoice and enjoy the abundant life.....Christ return won't cheat you if anything it'll add to it

There is nothing to be afraid of. You just live your life as if Christ could return at any moment but do not stop living because He is going to return. I have a saying about Jesus' return: If Jesus should return in my lifetime great and if He doesn't than that is still okay because I know that He is going to return one day for His Church.

Look further back, they have been calling for the end of the world for over 1000 years. What gives you the notion that humanity is important enough to cause the entire planet to self destruct anyway. You are personifying the planet, it has been here millions of years and will continue to do so after you die, of natural causes, and probably a bit disappointed.

Good news! Jesus won't be returning any time soon. People have confidently been predicting the Second Coming for nearly 2,000 years. So far: nothing. Your mum's got it sussed.

If I were you I'd be more worried about global warming and nuclear proliferation. They could genuinely stop you from living out your life.

Preparing for His coming is just living your life, getting an education, getting married, etc.

That is how you will be ready for Him - because you have lived a good and faithful life.

Do not look at your life as a distraction of your purpose but rather the fulfillment of it.

Your mom is right. I had the same problem 30 years ago, and, well, here we are, huh? I'm no longer holding my breath. IF the Lord returns in my lifetime, fine. If he waits another 250 years (and He just might), you don't have anything to worry about. So just do as the bible says. Occupy until He returns.
