a red light keeps flashing instead of a green one...

i got good batterys & a memory card too.

You may have a firmware error or a focus error.

Find a subject that is far enough away and has enough contrast for the focusing system to work.

You know, I bet if you would READ & STUDY the Owner's Manual for your camera you'd learn a lot about how to use it. That's the only way you'll get the full use of it.
