I'm gonna get a new cat, but I can't decide where to get it. PetSmart, they have already spayed/Nudered cats.
Or Animal Control, most of the cats aren't fixed, and cost 40$.

By the way, what's the average price for a cat at PetSmart?

And the PetSmart and Animal Control are in two different towns, if ti helps.

PetSmart only advertises adoptable felines from local shelters/rescues. You'd have to ask which rescue/shelter is showing their cats there, and how much their adoption fee is.

Either way, is a good thing, but you'll pay more in the long run with an Animal Control cat, since you'll have to schedule & pay for the spay/neuter surgery.

both are good, but the cats at animal control have been rescued from different homes. Also if too many animals are in an animal control facility they start putting the ones that have been there the longest to sleep. some that are put down could have been perfectly good pets, and some are still babies. i would personally adopt one from animal control. people always go to the pet store to get animals, so you don't have to worry about that. an average price for a hamster at petsmart is 15 dollars, so i would imagine a cat would be 30 or 40 dollars. same as animal control.

The ones at PetSmart won't be killed if nobody buys them right away. The ones at Animal Control only are held an average of 5 to 10 days then euthenized. They are the ones who need the homes the most--you can always call around for low cost spay/neuter.

$40 is low. The ones at the shelter here are $65.

Petsmart cats come from rescues and shelters. Chances are they will not be put down if they aren't adopted. Animal control will put down their animals if they aren't adopted. There are many low cost spay/neuter options out there, so if it were me, I'd go with animal control.

Animals Shelters are the BEST PLACE
Make sure you choose a breed suited to your lifestyle, don't make your choose on the cute factor, fluffy factor, breed alone or colour..

NEVER BUY FROM A PETSTORE
Shelter aren 't picky, they just want the right animal to go to the right home.

NEVER go to a pet store to buy a cat or a dog. They are overpriced, and poorly bred, and worse kept. Go to the animal shelter, or source a registered breeder.

i would get a kitten from a shelter, only becasue if you do that is one life saved and thoes kittens from PetSmart are not going to be killed in a few weeks. besides I got my kitten there and she is the best cat i have ever had.
