I went thru a similar stage when I was 12. I will be 35 tomorrow and have my own 14 year old daughter. When you are a teen, you think that your problems are unique and that they can't be solved. I want you to know that whatever you are feeling now will pass. You will look back on this time and think some of it was silly. I remember being around your age and getting into fights with best friends and having my boyfriend break up with me too. Try to make up with your bf it its possible and forget your boyfriend. Go to school and hold your head high. You might be depressed. My mom took me to the doctor when I was 12 with similar issues that you are having. He prescribed a very mild antidepressant that allowed me to get out ot my depression and lead a normal and healthy life. Good luck!!!

Yes, it does sound like depression. Has your family noticed what you are experiencing? Talk to your mom or dad - you are going through a lot with the lost of your best friend and b/f. You may need medical help. As someone who has suffered and been treated for depression myself, here are some other ways you can help yourself:
1) count your blessings
2) focus on your strengths
3) exercise daily - try something fun and new
4) start a new activity or club at school - your new best friend is just waiting for you! You may meet her where you least expect it.
5) read uplifting books and start to journal - you will be able to see your progress as you write about your feelings.
6) focus on helping others - be it someone at home or in your neighborhood. It will help take your mind of your sadness. It is normal to be sad when we experience a loss, but if you find yourself stuck in it - try those things and if they don't help - ask a parent to take you to your doctor. All the best - you have so much to live for! I'll say a prayer for you.

This is probably the most stress you've been under in your life. For 13, it sounds like the end of the world, but it'll continue to turn no matter what happens. You're not depressed, you need to build up your own identity and self esteem. It's actually a really cool thing to be able to do things on your own and for yourself. That's called independent. Why would you WANT to have to be w/ someone all the time? Find yourself, and it'll attract so many new people in your life.

You should see a psychiatrist. He can evaluate your symptoms and prescribe a treatment plan to get you smiling again. This is important--go see him today!

Great resource: www.nami.org. They can recommend a dr. and if you can't afford a dr., they can help you find ways to pay him.
