Don't freeze cream cheese that will be used for spreading. When thawed, it may look curdled in appearance and have a crumbly texture. However, you can freeze regular brick cream cheese for up to 2 months for use as an ingredient in recipes. Freeze in its original container.

Hard cheeses are easier to freeze than soft cheese. Because of the high liquid (water) content, cream cheese will break up and get grainy.

Cream cheese left unopened in the fridge will last quite a awhile , just store it in the fridge.

I wouldn't suggest it.......others here are right about the texture, it gets "grainy" when defrosted, even in the refrigerator as suggested.......some things just don't freeze well......one very good example of this is Mayonnaise.........NOT a good candidate for freezing, as it separates into a nasty goo when it defrosts........Hope this helps.....

I have done it and the consistency when it thaws is awful. In my opinion it ruins it, I'll never do it again.
